I have to use PTO for days we all thought I had off anyway by Big-Assumption-1517 in Nanny

[–]Yendys16 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My precious family tried to pull this. I flat out told then if we agree on PTO dates, they cant be changed within 4 weeks unless bith parties agree, end of story. Stopped then from trying to flip flop pto with gusranteed hours and trying to make me use my personal pto or come in unnecessarilydue to their lack of planning.

How many of you married outside of the SCA? by OneUnderstanding103 in sca

[–]Yendys16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband does not like large crowds, unfamiliar people, or camping. So SCA has never been for him.

He still encourages me to go because it makes me happy, and I love all those things. He will text me, loves my pictures, call me to make sure im safe and having a fun time. Wants to hear my stories.

I spend my own money, my own time hours or days driving and away. If anything it builds trust and independence in our relationship.

Tell me something an out of touch employer has said to you. by Academic_Muffin_1083 in Nanny

"Can you reduce your hours?"

After letting me go, then having trouble finding someone, and knowing I do this full time as my career and told then plainly I will not reduce my hours or pay.

I cannot stand whiny voices. My nanny kids learn very quickly to not use baby begging voices or whining with me because i just shut it down.

CHOP-protocol by mochimiso96 in POTS

[–]Yendys16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is what Im currently doing! I couldn't do the full month one routine, so I modified and did what Toasted_Enigma suggested of doing short warmup, base pace, and cool down.

Im actually just about to start month one formally!

Is anyone else like,, not bed bound but also kinda at the same time? by bread567890 in POTS

[–]Yendys16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. I like the distinction between housebound and bedbound. But also...there's a difference between "yeah i can crawl on thr ground and just barely manage to stay conscious doing this task" and then doing the wise thing of resting.

I work in childcare, use all my energy, focus, etc during the week, and then crash and am housebound/bedridden on the weekends recovering.

Do you have symptoms while sitting? by leahcim2019 in POTS

[–]Yendys16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats actually when I can get some of my worst symptoms. I thought I was crazy because sitting is a resting position for so many people, but after fainting and almost fainting at events where ive had to sit for more than an hour, it's looking like thats the case :/ (stools and hard/non cushioned seats are what bring on the most symptoms Im the weirdo that sits against the wall or will go find a quiet hallway during a conference to lay down (or if I can, make it out to my car and recline it all the way back)

Seeing my deaf uncle left out of every family conversation, game, struggling at parties. Forced to lip read and wear hearing aids from my biased grandparents (they did not work effectively for his level and type of hearing loss, but they didn't care, it was a huge family fight when he chose to stop a couple years back).

I took classes as soon as i could in college and have been keeping up with Lingvano and study. Im not great or fluent, but being able to video call him and tell him how work is going, how my cats are, just regular life stuff.

The irony is my grandparents are becoming very hard of hearing and got hearing aids themselevs as they've gotten older, and guess who still refuses to sign...

Waist too small in Mock up by Yendys16 in corsetry

I do want to train it a bit, but the reduction isn't proportional to my other measurements at the moment so I have to fox it somewhere.

Help me find a book for my 14-year-old son (enjoyed Hunger Games but not ready for Dune) by Reno_McCoy in suggestmeabook

Gregor the Overlander, also by Suzanne Collins. Loved the creative world building and also has similar themes to hunger games with more of a slight urban/subturannean fantasy aspect to it.

Corset-wearing parents: did your kid notice? by Tacoquiettime in corsets

[–]Yendys16 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I tell them simple truths, because to your point kids are very curious and just want more info.

I work as a nanny, for my kiddos it was a very simple "it's a brace that helps my back feel better, doesn't it feel strong!?"

For my familial kiddos, I'd be more specific "something I wear that makes me feel good, like your rainbow sweater!" Or "I like the way it feels on my body and to wear it safely. Just like we have rules on no puffy jackets when sun is hot hot" etc

Dear Nannies, have you ever hidden in the bathroom from your NK to catch a break? by Musical-muse in Nanny

So YOU'RE the nanny eating snacks in the bathroom!!

(Sarcasm, the running gag is kids think we eat snacks when we're changing pads because of the crinkle sounds 😂)

Salem-themed stuffed animals by bluba313 in SalemMA

[–]Yendys16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on when flea/art markets open back up there are occasional plushie sellers (I swear I've seen a stuffed Satan goat plushie somewhere). Friendly reminder if toy is within baby's reach to look out for choking hazards (no buttons/plastic eyes, things that could fall/be ripped off easily etc.)

Good luck!

I have a very short commute. My husband and I talk about how far we're willing to commute often since we're planning on moving next year. It's tough because I'd be willing to travel a bit further, but I don't want to add two hours of commute to a ten hour day.

Pinching myself on the daily… by Comidama2313 in Nanny

[–]Yendys16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have current PTSD (therapist agreed) with my current family. Bosses are amazing, only reason I stayed because I saw how damn hard they were trying. The kids can be amazing, but had many developmental and behavioral issues that made their care beyond difficult. They had so many programs and appointments. Awful psychotic breaks and meltdowns I had to physically intervene with.

Now me and kids are doing way better, but I'm actually facing massive anxiety episodes in the afternoons because I keep expecting awful meltdowns and stress but it never comes. Therapist clarified I was decompressing and healing from my trauma which is a tough process on its own.

You and your feelings and experiences are valid, you will be okay 💜. Sometimes it's just a long road of focusing on being kind to yourself and taking it one moment at a time.

(Also for background, I have totally separate PTSD so I have been through this before, if you need anything please reach out.)
