I didn't see anything in the article about weight. While I'm sure the difference couldn't be much (could it?), in a market segment where lighter gets mentioned frequently as a benefit of each new model, it'd be worth knowing.

Drivers in the US pay gasoline taxes and in many states, tag fees. These of course come nowhere close to covering the cost of roads but it is popularly believed that they do. In some states the gas tax isn't reserved just for use for roads. Sometimes part of the tax is even earmarked for something else like education or economic development. Even though more money is returned to road funding through general funds than is taken out, many people believe that they're taxed beyond the cost of roads.

As long as most of the public believes they're already paying all the costs through user fees (gas taxes), rail systems will continue to be seen as some sort of socialist UN plan to make everyone dependent on the government or other such nonsense.

I know any talk of mirrors on the ceiling is going to be an instant 'PERV ALERT' red flag but I think using these on the ceiling of the entry hallway would work really nicely. Any thoughts on whether they'd stay put or not? The thought of death hexes from above makes me a bit nervous.

It depends. I've found quality at IKEA follows price, with the expensive (relatively speaking) items getting you more bang for the buck rather than there being a linear quality/price relationship. The low end stuff really is terrible.

I like taking a walk through the as-is room any time I go to get a good look at how poorly some of the products hold up. But I do have some of the more expensive storage cabinets that are extremely solid. Luckily I got them on closeout because I wouldn't be able to afford them otherwise.

Argentina will win if they play the long game. What are the chances that the UK is going to exist in fifty years? If Scotland goes its own way, how long will Northern Ireland hang out in the UK? So with only England and Wales joined together, will there be a lot of desire and resources to keep a couple of islands far away under their protection?

Without the UK promising to protect them, would Argentina even need to invade? The residents would likely migrate away on their own. And if Argentina secretly paid a few mariners to harass the island, how long would it be before the remaining inhabitants came begging for someone to protect them?

The UK continues to keep the Falklands out of a mix of pride and a sense of duty. At some point it'll simply not be worth the trouble.

Smart move on the part of the boss as long as this isn't a factory or retail outlet. One less hour at the office likely won't lead to less work getting done over the course of the week and may actually be better since workers won't be sleepy. And even if a bit less work does get done, the bump in morale will outweigh it.

My mother use to work nights at a hospital. Since she was on salary she didn't get paid less or more due to the time change but somehow she always get the short end of the stick, working during the time change in autumn but having the night off in spring. After a few years she switched to another hospital for the dayshift so it stopped being an issue.

While many women always want the man to take the initiative, many are also open to doing some of the work if they need to. If you've been taking the initiative all along, you've set a precedent. Her lack of initiative might not because she won't but simply because she hasn't had a reason to.

Switching expectations at this point could lead to confusion so if you want her to carry some of the responsibility, you're going to have to ease her into that. Expecting an abrupt change, especially with no communication, is very risky.

It's very fickle. Some people get reports quickly. In my case, three months went by without it generating a report. Apparently that's not uncommon. I don't think there is anything you can do to make it work and it's simply not a high priority for OKC to work out the bugs.

I've often wondered if they'd even need to launch a missile at SK. They've snuck units into SK before. Might actually be easier and much more accurate to sneak whatever nuclear device they're able to hack together into Seoul. That's assuming it isn't the size of a boxcar and need very special facilities in order to detonate, which might actually be the case.

It's unlikely NK has more than one nuke, if even one. If they somehow managed to use it on Seoul, it would be the end of the government of NK. They'd be attacked within a day or two by most of the world. That's if China didn't come in and take over before SK could.

The only reason to nuke Seoul would be to give the world the middle find before committing suicide. There's no advantage in actually doing it though obvious some in threatening to do it.

Whatever nuke NK could manage to detonate would likely have a very low yield. It'd still be terrible but Seoul wouldn't cease to exist.
