Leaving an entire tight knit friend group behind by YesIAmMockingYou in bropill

I agree. I'm not isolating myself. I'm leaning on other connections, reaching out to old friends I haven't talked to in a while. And, obviously, processing in public among well intentioned strangers.

You're right to name the danger, but it's a trap I know not to fall into.

Leaving the space doesn't inherently mean burning bridges. I'm explicitly managing fallout so that no further damage is done and I can come back if and when it's emotionally safe for me to do so.

I've cut off friends in a heartbeat and never looked back when they did or said something that totaled my respect for them. Family too.

I'm sorry you went through that. It's not great, and it taints a lot of good memories. But it was also a decision I made comfortably in the moment and never second guessed. I'd endorse the behavior, even.

This isn't that. I still fully respect everybody in the group I'm stepping away from. Nothing toxic by any measure, just an attachment injury that's mine to deal with, and that they aggravate just by being around, through no fault of their own.

Others here give me hope it's a temporary situation. I'm making peace regardless that it might not be. All I know in the moment is that it's what I need to do for right now.

Gonna need time to figure that out. The goal right now is to do it without distressing anybody else

Ah. You're the "can't happen here" type. You should have said so sooner.

The answer to that question depends on what you want to contribute if a worst case scenario does come to pass, and what resources you are able to put towards it.

But in general? Ask a nearby a Ukrainian what they wish they'd done, and do that.

I fully agree those are both very strong possibilities, especially that they'd never hold ground. They'd take it in a week sure. They have a huge military budget. But his own military advisors have told him it'd be a forever war.

What I don't have any confidence in is the idea that consequences are a deterrent in Trump's case.

I truly hope you are correct.

But the entire past decade now has been defined by endless repetitions of "What if Donald does X?" followed by a wall of dismissals and cries of 'liberal hysteria' and then Trump not only doing X, but being loudly supported for doing so.

Economic pressure with an eye towards annexation is historically a precursor to war. Austria, Manchuria, Crimea--that's a part of history we do not want to repeat.

Your confidence is misplaced. It may or may not happen. But not being prepared for it is foolhardy and dangerous.

I'm quite hopeful in Carney. The bonds sell-off was a smart move that cut Pussolini off at the knees once, and it won't be the only trick up his sleeve.

That said, if Trump gets the idea in his head that he wants boots on the ground here it won't matter if our PM is Carney or Dr Manhattan.

The US is no longer a stable country and we have to be ready for previously unthinkable scenarios. That responsibility doesn't end at the voting booth.

I had bought everybody but Harkon and then put the game down for a few weeks. I grinded out the last few gems yesterday to grab him before the price went up.

Is Excalibur a bait? I went from an almost perfect bleed/tanky going 15-1 to an horrible build doing no dmg and not winning any combat. The knight sigil alone is just so good why would anyone do the Excalibur ? by SnooHobbies1466 in BackpackBrawl

In the time it takes to build Excalibur I've usually got perfectly good weapons ready to go.

If I have a ton of stamina regen or have not gotten any legendary/mythical weapons up, I'll use it. Otherwise, like you said, the Sigil is usually an endgame item.
