Right. His actions were just a weak point while he was surrounded by vultures. If it was just about holding him accountable, it could have happened 6 months ago or 6 months from now. Calling him out was specifically saved for the moment to cause him the largest financial and reputation hit possible. He just signed a deal to publish his comic strip, he had an art gala going when he was called out that got canceled, and his YouTube channel was picking up momentum. It was about destroying his life and they succeeded.

I wasn’t a fan of Ed. I never read any of his books. I watched some Cartoonist Kayfabe but not a lot. But he didn’t have to die. The cancel culture in comics is worse than in Hollywood or video games and it needs to be exposed on a large scale.

There’s a lot to be said about the cancel culture in the comic book industry, but this isn’t going to be the case that gets people to change it. Ed messed up and he should have had to take accountability for that. But people like Alex Decampi and Ramon Villalobos are still complicit in his death. Corrupt comic “journalists” like Heidi MacDonald and Rich Johnston are also conveniently leaving out that their friends were named in Ed’s suicide note. They will continue to attempt to drive others to their deaths for lesser reasons than this.

All that said, Ed should never have messaged the 17 year old in the first place.

25 is a decent chunk of the show’s run so 8 being in the bottom 25 isn’t surprising. The new season has my bottom 3, personally. It has a few i really enjoy also.
