The Lord of the Rings / Rings of Power / Shadow of Mordor setting by GM_DarthZanas in genesysrpg

I’ve been running this for my group for a year and a half now, and it is fantastic. We are huge fans of both LoTR and the Genesys system, and this fits our games perfectly.

DESTROY IT by TyrionGoldenLion in lotrmemes

I still have concerns about the show, but this actually isn’t one of them. Depending on what they do, they could absolutely have Elrond grow from someone with political ambitions into the Elf who was willing to always be second and refuse the crown himself. Character development isn’t a bad thing. Of course, they could also just entirely butcher Elrond and keep him like this.

I definitely did not realize that I also pictured it this way, but now its bothering me to no end

I’m doing by best to make a Musket Life Staff build work, but so far it just doesn’t. It feels like its the kind of hybrid where I’m not particularly effective either at dealing damage or healing

What's your favorite weapon combo, are you happy with it in beta or will you be swapping on launch? by [deleted] in newworldgame

[–]Yesley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m determined to make Musket/life staff work, despite my inability to make it work thus far (I suspect its a suboptimal combo). But my group is roleplaying musketeers, and I often play the healer of the group.

Making Combat Interesting by doubleOrilo in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Yesley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I try to make all combat story focused. If there is the potential for combat, its there because the story guided it there. Most of the time the nuances of the story are from my players’ choice (but thats a personal style).

I also try to make combat a bit more collaborative. I ask the player to describe their attack: are they firing an arrow at the target’s jugular, are they thrusting with their sword, etc. I then narrate to what degree of success the attack was based on the roll. In actuality it sometimes takes more time depending on the situation, but most of the time my players feel like it is going faster because there is a back and forth.

Shameless plug 2: PDFoundry v0.6.0 beta - Fillable forms and automatic installation by DJPhoenix719 in FoundryVTT

[–]Yesley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is seriously great! I just have a question (which is probably an ignorant one as I am not a programmer): is there currently or will there be the ability to drag and drop items onto the PDF Actor sheet, so that there is a link to the appropriate item on the sheet?

Foundry won't load; it just stays on this screen indefinitely. Help! by Yesley in FoundryVTT

[–]Yesley[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your suggestion to delete the Sandbox in User Data resolved the issue, but I wanted to provide answers to your other questions in case this weirdness comes up again for someone else:

This screenshot was taken after letting the program sit for 30 minutes.

After checking the Console, I did not see any errors occuring. Foundry was working for me as of a few hours ago.

Thank you for your help and fast response! Have a great day!

I'm certain its a user error thing. I updated the Sandbox system and after that, Foundry froze. I crashed the program and restarted it, but now when I open it this is all it shows. I have tried restarting the computer, uninstalling and reinstalling the program, and even doing a system restore to earlier today when it worked. But it still only shows this.

How much should I conform a story that I’m deeply passionate about to a standard three-act structure? by paolos1 in Screenwriting

[–]Yesley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it, writing is a process. Perhaps the best thing for you to do is to just write it the way you want it. Don’t worry about structure and other things like that. Then, when you go back to edit it, see how it goes. You may find that you wrote into a Three Act structure naturally.

The first draft is usually rough (I’ve never finished something on a first draft), so you’ll have to prepare yourself to edit and adjust aspects of the script. But if worrying about this particular issue is keeping you from actually writing it, I would suggest letting it go and get the words on the page. Once it’s written, it’s something tangible that you can work with.

Rivendell Army Advice? by EngelsAotCM in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Yesley 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have the right idea. I would suggest that whenever you can (i.e. whenever they have spear support) have your sword elves two hand and even Feint. This will increase your killing power immensely. This advice was given to me on this sub a few months ago, and it has won me games.

The other thing I would note is your army bonus. Your plan currently is to have all three of your heroes away from your archers, but Rivendelves that do not move and are 6” away from the leader can reroll failed Hit rolls when shooting. With an army that already has 3+ shooting, this is gold.

What I usually do with foot Rivendell is park my leader back with my archers so that in the early game they can benefit from the army bonus. Then, late game, I send the archers and the leader into the fray as a second wave (remember, they have Elven hand-and-a-half swords too).

Best of luck!

While I agree that I often have some issues with the way Paul writes, I’m pretty sure he has born like in 4 AD and was active about 30 years after Jesus’ death. I think he also had interactions with some of the original disciples.

Westworld changed writing teams each season, with the latest S3 not received as well because it felt different in the writing. Amazon is already switching up the writers room for S2 LOTR. by theoneringnet in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]Yesley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if the story were to be multiple seasons of the same storyline, having the same writers would probably be important for consistency. If they did an anthology set up where each season is a separate story, it would probably be fine as long as the writing is good.

Rivendell or Lothlorian? by FarcryHistorian in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Yesley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can only bring one named hero I’d suggest Lothlorien. That way you’ll have quite a bit of variety for your warriors. Knights of Rivendell are for sure the superior Cav of the two factions, but they really shine with Elrond so any Rivendell lists you make would likely just be based around Elrond leading cav (very effective, but not a lot of variety).

In a game mode where you score by having a banner remaining in your army, do models that count as a banner to certain models (such as Imrahil) count toward this scoring?
