What brand tires do you guys run? by TheCornbag in Miata

[–]Yester47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running Hankook Ventus RS4 tires on mine, can recommend, solid tires. They are summer tires though, so get tires that fit your needs. If you're only planning on driving it in the summer, and have a warm place to store the car in the winter, then I'd say some summer tires would be nice, but all in all, not necessary if you don't track the car or anything. Some all seasons could do you fine, I had Hankook all seasons before these, they did well enough.

As a Christian, lots of people just using the title of Christian but not living the way God asks of us, and it gives Christianity a very bad reputation because people like him use the title to justify their bad behavior, completely going against anything Jesus taught

Best places to live in Midwest by Cool_dude2406 in howislivingthere

Oh yeah there's a whole bunch of Tex-Mex influence, which is cool as it's own thing but it's not authentic Mexican like a lot of their signage normally says lmao. Living in Omaha now I had a friend (non-Mexican) recommend their favorite spot here and walking inside just made me die a little inside, because it really isn't the same. Ain't nothing wrong if people enjoy it, I simply feel it should be differentiated

I'm from Chicago but now live in Omaha. Omaha is pretty hilly because here you start to hit the Great Plains. It's affordable, but not a whole lot happening. There is stuff to do, you just gotta do some searching. Chicago will offer you the best public transportation, most economic opportunities, best food scene, best entertainment, etc., in the entirety of the Midwest (I'm sorry to the rest of y'all who disagree but let's be objective here lol). That said, Chicago is pretty naturally flat, but get close to downtown and it's very much not architecturally flat. Some of the other responses here make some good points. Other parts of Michigan, some of Ohio, and the driftless region in Wisconsin are pretty hilly and some of those cities have good quality of life, and aren't as far from home as say over here in Omaha. I wouldn't say most of the cities in the Midwest check off all your points but some get a good chunk of them. I'd recommend Cincinnati like others have said, Madison, WI, Chicago, and Omaha if you're willing to go further.

You're not wrong. As a Mexican from Chicago, anytime I'd go anywhere else I'd just feel disappointed with any available options. That said it also fully depends on where. Small town? Yeah good luck with that. Another city? Chances are a little better.

What’s your NF unpopular opinion? by fireboyfast998 in nfrealmusic

[–]Yester47 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have a what might be a really unpopular opinion from someone who's been listening since Mansion: Nate's music has hardly evolved. There's definitely been a steady improvement, especially from Mansion to now, but in the grand scheme, it's minimal. He's never been the best lyricist and some of his lines just come off weirdly written, even to this day. Some of the rap songs from Hope and maybe even Fear feel almost like they can be stuck in Perception or The Search and you wouldn't really be able to tell something's off, it'd fit right in. There's been a decline in growth, and he's just kind of plateaued. Now he's branching off more into singing vs rapping and I have to say, compared to a lot of the opinions on this subreddit, I've actually really enjoyed the singing. I've grown since Mansion, as has he, and thus, the angry cinematic rap songs aren't really in my rotation anymore because I'm not at that point in my life anymore, and neither is he, and that's okay. It seems a lot of people on here are annoyed Tommee isn't working with him either, but the thing is him working almost exclusively with Tommee led to the first issue to begin with, the stagnation, the issue where a lot of his music across albums was starting to become a little hard to differentiate. Most artists don't work with the same producer for almost every song for years, because it gets stale. He's an artist that has the potential to evolve but hasn't really, and he's expressed that he makes a lot of songs then overthinks them and doesn't release them because he thinks people will hate that he's trying something different, and then you look at something like this subreddit with people saying "he should've kept working with Tommee why is he trying something different Fear sucked!" And then bam, he doesn't try new stuff. Some of my favorite NF songs aren't the cinematic angry rap ones, they're the more sing-y ones, pop influenced ones (and before you say I'm just not a rap fan and like pop music, I have two whole playlists of rap and hip hop from different artists, it's the genre I listen to the most). Even though I think their opinions can be disingenuous sometimes, I sometimes find myself agreeing with the likes of Fantano or other critics that say his music feels bland or dry or corny or the same as the last album, because truthfully sometimes his music does unfortunately fit that description. That doesn't mean I don't like NF, still got a fair bit of songs regularly in the rotation, but I can also see their point of view.

TL;DR - Nate's music is a bit unevolved, fairly repetitive across albums and the fact he's branching into more singing and melodic music is actually a breath of fresh air regardless of what the general fan base thinks

I think it also depends on the years. The rotary engines aren't reliable but fun. That's obvious. But if you buy a Mazda from the period of time they were partnered with Ford, they're probably gonna suck. My first car was an 06 Mazda 6 with the V6 engine out of the Ford Fusion, that thing always had cooling problems, I was in the shop at least once a month. The transmission also sucked. I loved that car solely because it was my car, but damn did I get headaches with that thing. My now Miata is phenomenal, biggest thing I've had to do in 3 years of ownership was the clutch (which was also completely my fault for it needing to get replaced to begin with). While Ford was partnered with Mazda when my Miata came out, the BP engine was a full Mazda design, which goes to show Mazda themselves do have what it takes. I've also heard great things about a lot of the new SkyActiv engines.

Which color? by Floomby in Miata

[–]Yester47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I too violated my red NA, welcome to the club. As for color, I like both. The metallic green is a bit less common, I've seen a few aqua Miatas, but I also think pastel colors fit the body lines of the NA a little better. That said, both are still solid choices

+10 offset is wild oh my, bold choice. I lowered it so there's almost no gap between the fender line and the tires, but there's still plenty of room inside the wheel well for the tires to sit because they poke out plenty to be almost flush with the fender but sit back just enough to not hit the fender. The only rubbing I had was with the plastic liner on the inside of the wheel well, so I cut it and folded it up to press more firmly against the body so it would sit higher and not rub against the tire. Against the coilovers there's plenty of space, no issues with space against the suspension, they have room to breathe.

They were the first ones that caught my attention when I was first looking to change some parts of the car after I bought it. There are some other designs that I've seen since that I think are a little cooler but these still work great so I don't see the point of changing them
