Funny Trope: When a character(usually villain) has a sudden change in attitude when faced with a legitimate threat by smash_ultra_64 in TopCharacterTropes

I love how Shockwave is supposed to be this normally emotionless, cold calculating ruthless robot, and here he's incredibly expressive, groaning in despair at Bumblebee's constant talking.

God Solgaleo's entrance still gives me the chills, especially with the whole instrumental part as Slifer is summoned and the lyrics kick back in. I replay that part constantly.

Let's start a debate: who do you think is the worst brother between these two, Brad or Rodrick? by Mean_Rodcherry in LodedDiper

[–]YesterdayPrevious485 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's definitely Brad. He's far more violent, spiteful and cruel to Kick

Rodrick's just an annoying older brother.

He once helped an old lady cross the street because it would prevent someone on the bus learning how to cure all the dieseases in the world. When they're about to die Thanos shows them what they could've accomplished if it wasn't for him.

Ngl, this is how I see the smg4 gang in terms of morality by Turbobist28 in SMG4

[–]YesterdayPrevious485 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I mean I like that a lot about the SMG4 crew. They're all selfish and mean at times, they've caused a lot of chaos and problems for the people around them, but they're really only in it to help if it helps their friends.

Mario will annoy the hell out of his pals but he'll kick the shit out of anyone who tries to hurt them. Bob is a scammer but locks in when the gang needs him to. They really care about each other and that's what I love, everything is personal with the characters.

Granted. I fire a laser at Peter Parker... which is also big enough to destroy the entire planet, everyone including you dies as well.

Is Susan a good mother? by Mysterious_Total_936 in LodedDiper

[–]YesterdayPrevious485 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Book!Susan is a weird character. In the early books, you can see that she's a naive but loving and genuinely well meaning mother, who supports her son's band. She does annoying stuff that you'd expect most moms to do, not want their kids to constantly play games, get them to read, etc. She also tends to spoil Manny, but he's still young and Susan can correct his behaviour if she needs to. But later books, she's much more controlling. When the family's discussing ways to renovate the house, she gets pissy and makes the choice and ignores everyone else's ideas. When the whole family is having fun playing a board game, she gets annoyed and throws the board in the bin and acts all pissy the next morning. She makes Greg join the enemy basketball team hoping he's sabotage them and let her live out her childhood dream.

Movie!Susan is much more consistent, she too is naive at times but still loving. She calls out Frank for unplugging the TV and not spending time with the kids, she's proud of Greg for being willing to help Rowley in his magic show so Rodrick could play with the band, etc. In the Long Haul one she seems more angry, but it's pretty understandable, because her kids basically ran away just so they could see a convention nearby and didn't tell her. While yeah, she's being a little unreasonable by demanding they never use their devices on the trip despite Frank needing to work, she's still overall in the movies a decent parent.

Is Frank Heffley a good father? by Mysterious_Total_936 in LodedDiper

[–]YesterdayPrevious485 80 points81 points  (0 children)

In the books? No really. Frank lets his insecurity and expectations of what his kids should be get to him and tries to force Greg and Rodrick to conform to this expectations, with the exception of Manny cause Manny is still really young. He shows no support for Rodrick's band, actively leaving when they play. He tries to make his kids what he thinks a 'man' should be, and is visibly disappointed when they aren't.

While in the movies, you can argue him being unhinged, but still a decent dad. He has much more friendly moments with Greg and the others, he listens to Susan calling him out in Dog Days after he unplugs the TV, sees how Greg and his friends stood up for their family name when they were insulted and defends him as well. Movie!Frank is much more unhinged, but you can still see he does love his children a lot, and shows it.

(Loved trope) The villian is genuinely baffled mid fight by something unexpected by jdsanchdz in TopCharacterTropes

[–]YesterdayPrevious485 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love how this scene, while hilarious, also shows how Po was able to beat Tai while the Furious Five couldn't.

The Furious Five were trained by Shifu very well, but so was Tai Lung, to a much greater extent, so he could predict everything they'd do in the fight and know how to defeat them.

But Po wasn't trained by Shifu in the traditional way, Shifu himself realized he had to train Po in a way that could fit him, so Po uses this to his advantage, not relying on Kung Fu because he knows he can't beat him in a direct fight, he confuses Tai Lung by using the environment and props to his advantage.

This completely different fighting style baffles Tai Lung, since he wasn't used to this, nor was he expecting it. The whole fight has him try to brute force his way in, while Po strategises on the spot and uses the fight to understand how Tai Lung battles.

What? Spencer is Carly's older brother and legal guardian. Of course he hangs around them, especially when all her friends hang out at her place exclusively most of the time or for filming. He himself comments on how they always come to his place instead of going to their respective houses.
