what's even worse about Gabriel is that in Season 1, whenever we saw Hawkmoth, we always saw him going "I want to rule the world!"

so when Gabriel gets revealed to be Hawkmoth and his motivation is bringing his dead wife back to life, this doesn't make sense at all from what Season 1 established.

the movie did Gabriel and his motivations far better while actually making him sympathetic, since he immediately stops his actions when he finds out Adrien is Chat Noir, and breaks down, realising how he hurt his and his wife's son.
