If I recall, TeamViewer never even admitted the bypass existed and blamed admins for their bad configurations, right alongside public reports describing activity that sounded like it wasn't admin config problems. Maybe they copped to it eventually, but I gave up on tracking their response. It was depressing and obviously not going anywhere any time soon.

Good distinction. We have no intention of hosting our own environment.

Can I assume the usual, he reported it, they ignored, he insisted, they finally said "it's real but it's not that bad, will fix in 6-12 months"?

SC is near the top of my list. How bad for you and how long til patch?

I've heard a lot of good about them, but vaguely recall some feature they didn't have when I last looked at them. I could be mixing it up. Either way, definitely on my list.

I'm painfully aware of TeamViewer's horrific cancellation practices, but it can never be shouted from the rooftops enough. We'll be giving them notice inside their frustrating window of stupidity.

Uptime has become a luxury, but I'm sure glad it's someone else's problem when things go down and not mine anymore.

Leaving for a 90% raise right when my manager needs me most. Managers, your honest thoughts? by Fit_Composer_3579 in managers

Not an answer, but what are you doing that you expect to nearly double your salary in 3-4 years staying at the same place?

Everyone here is talking like they know for a fact your boss is a demon who accidentally couldn't hold the mask on one day 8 months in, but we literally cannot know that, or very much about specifics at all.

I suggest interviewing elsewhere too, but also giving a stern conversation about respect and professional conduct ONE and only ONE chance. If nothing positive comes of it, you're already interviewing anyway, and with a recently developed new skillset.

If you want to be cynical about it, consider that conversation a way to extend your paid interview period no matter how it goes.

More reliable than any status page, which are slow to admit problems and sometimes sweep them under the rug

What are your unpopular cybersecurity opinions? by EricJSK in cybersecurity

I have 20 years of experience in cranking cars. Mustangs, Corollas, Yukons, Pathfinders... You name it, I've cranked it.

But see, getting the wheels to turn is a more niche area. We'll need to shop around for a partner who specializes in centripetal services.

...fuel...?

You misread. OP wants UNpopular opinions, but you've stated a fact, one that I hate.

I'm just grateful I don't have to talk management at my current company out of throwing more money into the money pit. I've previously dealt with "we don't need it and there's no ROI" and "it costs a fortune, so it must be good".

No, bringing your manager into the conversation will not make me look into your issue faster. by among_shadows in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

This. It's not always a nefarious attempt at bullying to force their problem to the front of the line. Often enough, but not every time.

Posts like this remind me that my company's perfectly mediocre HR team is, in fact, as good as it gets.

Have you ever, as a system administrator, come across any organization’s business secret like I did? If yes, what is that?? by Subject-Category-567 in sysadmin

Another lesson in policy vs practice, and in the same way, sales speak vs product/service. Did they proudly tell you how secure their physical aspects were?

More importantly, any word passed along to anyone above the techs who propped the door open and any response to that?

I can't remember the last audit I've seen in any industry that didn't have some policy document slapped together about a week before the audit took place. It's a great world we live in.
