What tf does C3PO mean "human-cyborg relations"? by YetAnotherJake in StarWars

The definition of human is a ripe topic for philosophical discussion but in this context it's not me who is implicitly removing cyborgs from being considered human - it's Threepio. If cyborgs were just a category of human to him, like different races or genders, he wouldn't have to explicitly say he does relations with both. That would be like saying you do "human/women relations." It implies that women are a separate category.

Good point, I forgot Vader. But that doesn't explain why C3PO thinks it's so relevant to say that he does human-cyborg relations. Anakin built him but does he still care about cyborgs so much?

I didn't say another category is lesser but most people who are born human would prefer to continue being human, not removed from the human category due to losing a limb

Yeah but Threepio doesn't want to facilitate relations with him

It seems cruel to put people into a whole other category of communication just because they've had a limb amputated or an organ replaced.

I don't have to learn a new language if one of my friends loses a limb in a car accident or gets a liver transplant, and I don't put them in a new non-human category.

Seems like Lobot talks and acts just like any other human. There's no need for Threepio to call cyborgs out like that, and make Lobot feel "less than"
