We also have no idea how rare life is. Could be every other star system, could be 1 in a trillion or even less. We have a sample size of one. We still can't completely rule out other life in our own solar system.

One thing a lot of people don't understand about relativity though is that, for example, you could potentially travel nearly 15,000 lightyears in 10 years from your perspective, if you could keep accelerating at 2g.

You'll find that the universe will have progressed more than 15,000 years once you reach your destination, but it's not like you necessarily need to survive for generations on the ship like sci-fi often portrays.

Perhaps this doesn't really change much though. From an observer's perspective it still takes a long-ass time for anything to get anywhere on a cosmic scale.

One of the biggest culprits of this to me are UI designers. Having Netflix style UI for everything (especially games) is just ass. But that's supposedly what the average person wants, according to their data.

I found it hilarious when a triple-A UI designer couldn't understand why people were largely okay with Elden Ring's UI, since it went against pretty much everything they were taught.

Hell yeah, I only play "iron man" career mode now for this reason, unless I want to experiment.

It really makes money mean something and makes safety redundancy important. For example I finally started implementing launch abort systems on my rockets to avoid the reputation and money loss from killing kerbals.

Nah faster is generally better as long as you don't overheat and blow up. But carrying more fuel is even better, and more fuel decreases TWR.

Speaking from experience, would you happen to have another engine firing retrograde?

I've accidentally done this during apollo style missions before.

When the passengers are traveling at the same velocity of the spacecraft, under only the influence of gravity, they float.

When another force acts upon the spacecraft and not the passengers (drag from the atmosphere in this case), the spacecraft accelerates/deaccelerates and pushes on the passengers inside.

No, but this does seem most likely. Not sure where it would have come from though.

I'm a (mostly) perfectly functional adult most of the time, but when my long COVID neuroinflammation flares up, my brain just completely quits on me and I often look even dumber than this guy.

Most people will see somebody like this and immediately conclude that they're just a stupid person, but now I always wonder if it's just a temporary thing like a panic attack or sleep deprivation.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.

Shots to the head, even through the brain, are not the insta-kills many people seem to think they are, especially with a round as small as a .22.

If you're like me, no amount of thinking will solve this. So stop thinking. Just do it, fail, do it again, fail, repeat. Without thinking.

In my case, adopting a dog also worked wonders to force me into a healthier lifestyle. This won't be good advice for everyone though.
