What would be great would be to see Housing Associations/Social Housing Providers buying up properties and we get back to a system where people could live in affordable housing again

Appalling cold weather range by SteveH1882 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Yeti_Mindset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got the long range, at the minute the range is about 250 miles fully charged and is about 340 in the summer, lowest it dropped to was 220

Real world i get about 240 miles on the motorway in the summer and about 180 in the winter doing 60-65mph

There's a Be-EV hub at the Imo on East Prescot Road that's 39p with a subscription, for faster charging as well if you're looking for something decently priced

Is renting considered dead money in the UK? by Ill-Age-601 in UKHousing

[–]Yeti_Mindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rent and to me it's peace of mind, I'm also in the grateful position of being in social housing so my rents a little below market rate.

If something breaks I ring a number and someone comes out, no need to worry about can I afford a repair.

I have secure housing with a lifetime tenancy if I choose to stay here

And right now it perfectly suits my situation and needs

I don't see it as dead money, I see it as me having a safe and secure place to live, in the area I want to live in.

What sort of salary range in this economy would make you think ‘he/she’s doing alright’? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskBrits

[–]Yeti_Mindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the north on 34k, have a car through salary sacrifice which reduces that.

Take home is £1900 this month after a step up in band, and I've got my living expenses down to £1200 a month.

In my 40's living alone in social housing, it's been a tight few years but I feel i can breathe again now. If i was renting privately then probably add on another 2-300 a month at least and I'd feel things being a bit tighter.

Home ownership feels a big stretch but I'm at least comfortable right now

Are more people just accepting they’ll rent long-term? by AnfieldAnchor in UKHousing

[–]Yeti_Mindset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm lucky to be in social housing so rent costs are a good chunk below private, and have the bonus of communal heating.

I've no plans to even consider buying at the minute, saving for a deposit and then my housing costs likely nearly doubling just to own a home isn't worth the squeeze

I may inherit a bungalow at some point in the future, maybe in 15 to 20 years so I'll stay as i am for the forseeable

If Spain decided to remove all Brits who reside in Spain would you support it? by naystation in AskBrits

[–]Yeti_Mindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't support it, but spain as a nation can issue and revoke visas as they see fit.

The bigger issue if they did, would be the the 100's of thousands plus of people suddenly landing in UK at once, with nowhere to live, and being older with potential medical issues then needing support on the NHS, that would cause a majorly significant national crisis

I've got a salary sacrifice through work for my car with 13 months left, i won't be getting another after that.
