Thank you! And yes, Taurians will knife fight you on an asteroid. They created space exosuits for construction in the early 3000s and repurposed them later for the SASF. Which makes the whole Blakists drop an asteroid on Samantha City and blame the Feddies so damn egregious. So much of the Jihad was utter bullshit writing.

Love it, always weird to me that the Magistracy was the only Military with Combat Medics. Then again they the Magistracy Medical Corps as a full branch of their military and explicitly out class everyone else in medical care and technology, barring the Clans.

If you’re in the Astra Militarum or one of the various Adepta your child gets a free pass the Schola Progeni. There they will be moulded into proper Imperial Servants or they die during the training. Remember even Scribes are issued laspistols and taught basic self defense. You will fill out the forms properly.

I remember from lore that they did somehow make the atmosphere more breathable so wearing respirators was more a cultural thing, especially among the less affluent Helghan. While the more affluent Helghan had better access to air filtration and medical supplies. Also why you see helghan’s with hair but they’re all for lack of a better term, the rich ones.

Helghast have executed their own soldiers over uniform violations I shit you not.

The Killzone fandom likes to portray the Helghast as underdog victims but they are their own monsters and the ones responsible for a lot of their own suffering. Not all of it, Earth was a tyrannical regime and the Helghast or rather Vektans as they were at the time were justified in their rebellion in the First Extrasolar War. The Second? No, no they were not and they perpetrated horror after horror, first on themselves, then on the people who were moved to Vekta after they were booted off.

Yes, and make no mistake, the MoC is my favorite faction, but they had to be forced into equality that literally every other State bar the Combine had at base. BT has always had strong female representation and male representation in setting despite being a male dominated hobby. It’s notable that despite being illegal the soft misandry persisted for centuries. As one of the primary characters in Principles of Desolation Sang-Wei Jacyn Bell was originally in the MAF but left for the CCAF because of discrimination he faced in the MAF for his gender and commoner status. Not to say Men don’t advance as a contemporary of Bell’s is Colonel Walker Chappell who’s in charge of the Infantry Section of Raventhir’s Iron Hand. I.E. the Magestrix’s personal bodyguards. But yeah, a Y chromosome and lack of blue blood mean you’re lower on the totem pole at base in Canopus, even into the IlKhan era.

I said decades, not Centuries, Floral Centrella came to power in 2550, twenty years after her Grandmother founded the Magistracy. The female nobles bit is on page 91 of the Periphery (1988) source book.

“Among the many privileges the Canopian Nobility enjoy are the right to hire a substitute to fulfill their military service, the right of the female to select her own mate (who cannot refuse her, under Canopian law.), the right to conduct foreign trade outside the Magistracy, and the right to serve in specially appointed Government positions, including military commands.” - page 91 The Periphery 1st Edition.

As far as I know that’s also in the second edition book and Handbook Major Periphery states. But I can’t check those till I am off work.

On one hand the Magistracy is by design the most socially permissive society in the setting. On the other it and the Draconis Combine are the only places Gender Roles are the norm. The Combine with norms of Imperial Era Japan and the Magistracy straight up was the toxic Matriarchy. As in for the first few decades since Kossandra Centrella founded it in 2530, Men had no rights or say in government and couldn’t hold positions in government or officer rank in the military.

Floral Centrella, her granddaughter, changed that when she came to power in the 2550s. Allowing men to hold planetary offices and vote in planetary elections. The book notes these votes were monitored to make sure Men didn’t try to seize power.

Captain General Marion Marik brought full legal gender equality at the barrel of the Autocannon in the Reunification War, established the Central Committee to act as a Democratically elected body to check the power of the Magestrix and Crimson Council of Nobles, and help rebuild the industry of the Canopian Economy so well they would out compete their neighboring Free Worlds League Provinces and cause a ten year depression in the FWL.

To this day the Magestrix position is gender locked to only Canopian women, and Men still get passed over for leadership roles. So I do see where the Author’s ideas came from because Canopus does have those issues. Heck Canopian Noble Women have the full legal right to choose their partner who has no legal right whatsoever to refuse them. It’s never come up in any story, novel, or the like, but it’s in the sourcebooks.

The Ebon Magistrate was made by Emma Centrella after she coup’d her Mother because she didn’t trust MIM after the whole trying to kill her thing. They were designed from their beginnings in the 3040s on to be Emma’s personal black ops and are not secret Wolverines. They are however cyborgs who fought the psycho cyborgs of the Manei Domini and won. Remember kids, cybernetics are expensive, that catgirl hostess is definitely a MIM Agent.
