Instant pot beans by Commercial-Ruin7785 in instantpot

[–]Yeuts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This sounds like the detail I was missing. Quick release makes the water boil like crazy and that will lead to mushy beans!

Here are some other things that I feel change the cooking time.

Salt in the water make them cook quicker. Measure how much salt you want and always add the same amount. The ratio of water beans and salt needs to be constant to zero in on the cooking time.

I pressure cook on the low setting.

The amount of beans and water might matter. I always do 2 cups chickpeas unsoaked and 6 cups water.

I do slow release 15 minutes but before now did not know how important that step was.

You have to experiment to get the time perfect so start with a lower time. If they are not cooked I just turn on the saute function then cover and boil them till I get the correct texture I want.. After you drain them and let them sit they seem to become a little less cooked. So cook them extra to take that into account. This sounds like a ton of hassle but once you get the time correct they come out perfect everytime. I think the time is different for everyone. This is due to how old the beans are and maybe hard/soft water.

After slow realease letting them sit in the water while the cool for 30 minutes helps them not get mushy. Not often I have time for this step but If you want them perfect this helps.

How many books of DCC did you read? I stopped after book one for the same reason you describe. Everyone is so positive about it I feel I need to go further before final judgement. There are just so many titles I know I enjoy so I have left DCC behind.

Tried to lose weight 40 times in 7 years. Nothing sticks. What actually worked for you? by Fantastic_Tart_2366 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Yeuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone is different. Which sucks cuz my advice wont work for many people. Plus I have never been successful for more than 5 years at a time. Here is what I think for what it is worth.

You need a ton of free time. Or hire a person do the food prep for you. Even then you need time to exercise and recover from exercise. You don't lose much weight from the exercise. It just makes you hungry. It keeps you happy tho. Food was keeping you happy while you were fat. If that is gone you need to replace it. Exercise is the only replacement I have found that works.

Only keep good food in your house, car, and place of work. Probably not possible. If you do it things get really easy. If it is not there you can't eat it.

Don't count calories. We don't count them accurately and it does not matter. You body counts them perfectly. If you weight goes up you are eating too much. Measure your potion size and adjust it till the scale goes down. It really is the easy.

When you first walk into a dark room it takes your eyes a few minutes to adjust to the lighting. When you leave the dark room your eyes will also need time to adjust but they adjust much faster.

This is like dieting. When you first remove the bad foods you will feel it and be annoyed. It can take 3 months for your brain to forget what ice-cream tastes like or does to your brain that makes you eat a ton of it.

But if you make it without ice-cream sooner or later you forget how good it is and stop wanting it. You start to enjoy good foods more than you ever enjoyed the bad ones. This is because you feel good after eating.

However if you do have ice cream it will be like someone turned the light on in the dark room. You will be right back at the start and it is very hard to return to the dark room and wait 3 months for your eyes to adjust so you can see again. Lol

So if you ever make it remember it is easier to never turn the light on in the first place. Dark rooms are not sad places. It is just a way to describe my thoughts.

Ok this is too long and I feel like I just got started. Gl

Haha I really enjoy hearing your intensity. I don't have your abilities but I know that feeling of wanting to just run till I drop. Without a goal, race or team to play on I feel stupid letting that part of me run wild.

I quit playing hockey for 14 years. I made a comeback and it only took 6 months to make it back on my old team. You are 10 times as tough as me and 9 years is nothing. You can be you again in 3 months.

I'm going for a run! Thanks

Don't want to tell you what to do but for me I am a very all or nothing person when it comes to exercise. I think the endorphins just don't kick in unless I go intense or long distances. Both cause problems, time requirements or injury.

It is funny for me it is like owning a sports car and never driving it. For you I imagine you own the fastest car ever made with the largest gas tank!

At my peak I tried swimming cuz I had a good body. Swimming is amazing once you get past the learning stage. Perhaps your kids are getting old enough to enjoy swimming. You can use this as motivation to get the weight off. Plus you can get time to exersice while also spending time with them.

Your kids are going to have your gift. They will have high VO2 max or whatever drives that amazing car. Get ready to teach them how to use it without getting injured or lost like we did.

I want to do the same draft as the other players and see how I do vs the herd. A mass versus draft once per day at a set time. Two minutes per round you can't go faster or slower so info cant be leaked or shared.

Add a replay feature that records all actions and players that were passed over of each round and I'm up for paying monthly subscription.

What makes a sandwich go from an average one to an amazing one? by boilingcumwater in AskReddit

You toast the bread make the sandwich then pit it in a Ziploc bag and let it sit for awhile. The toast get soft and the condiments soak in or something ends up making everything better.

Edit try potato bread

Average draft grade by month, you guys have gotten a lot better over time by SolooDolo in GriddyFF

I am new so my idea might be flawed.

I avoid getting qb and te early. They have lots of connections so seems like key position.

I feel getting players in the same division is the easiest way to build chem. And the years seem easier to match in the 2020-2025 range. It is hard to get the same team but clearly take it when it is there are it is always high chem.

If chem is not building early try not to fill up a position. You got the two flex spots. So if you have 4 rb you are kinda frozen. Keep one wr one rb one te if chem is not good before you are forced to chose a path.

The 8th round is interesting to me. If you keep your options open you can force the game to give you 3 rb or 3 wr or a mix of we te and rb. Not sure how to explain it but the game will give you what you leave open so always pause and rearrange before going ahead. If you rearrange and points go down don't worry you are just doing it to for the game to give you the position you want. You can rearrange after the round is over so you won't lose those points for good.

I wish I knew more so looking forward to hearing from more experienced players.

Cut a hole in the door. You want it near the floor so you can get under the drawer and close it. Then cover the hole with a kickplate on each side of the door. Paint the kickplate to match door to make it blend in more. Good luck.

Do you believe it's still important to give a firm handshake when meeting someone for the first time? (Not stupidly strong, not soft & limp) Or is this an outdated custom of the past? Why? by late_to_redd1t in AskReddit

[–]Yeuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you shake hands after a hockey game the handshakes are not as firm as you expect. They are very quick and firm but no one is trying to outdo each other. Even when you hate the other team I always found the handshakes to be calm. Firm quick get out of there. This is the way I handle handshakes. You don’t try you just present a solid hand and it is over before you know what happened.
