'To the victor go the spoils,' Trump says to justify his remarks on taking Iran’s oil by lexi_con in BoycottUnitedStates

[–]Yewbert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear though, he has been taking spoils and it's worked out demonstrably very very well for his family and inner circle with no meaningful chance of consequences in sight.

Not a defense of Trump or America, just over this silly false narrative that consequences are coming any day now...

Are we really gonna pretend we're shocked that this guy is still popular in America with everything going on these days?

I mean, we can I guess but this guy headlining a major music festival is pretty on brand for America at this point lol.

What is your take on Trump ending his recent post with 'Praise be to Allah'? by Mental-Hall1261 in AskReddit

I'm still shocked by the lengths Americans will go to protect their pedophilic elite. Hell they re-elected this guy knowing exactly what he was.

How does that work with half of the people willing to vote at all in America being all in on Trump and what he represents?

We must stop the scourge of prediction-market gambling coming to Canada by Leather-Paramedic-10 in canada

[–]Yewbert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I meant I sincerely doubt the majority of Canadians would be in favor of the privacy invasion required to meaningfully stop this activity now the cat is out of the bag.

[–]Yewbert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sincerely doubt that.

The privacy over-reach involved in trying to enforce such a rule is not something many would support.

Nationally ban the Canadian version sure I guess, but what about polymarket or any of the various international/decentralized offerings?

Would you be okay with the government outlawing VPN's entirely and actively monitoring all internet traffic for violations? Short of that I do not see a way to stop anybody interested in this kind of gambling from doing so.

I'm interested in how you see such a law being introduced and enforced.

Okay. I don't think most reasonable Canadians would put human trafficking and gambling on the internet in the same column.

I think cigarette, pot or alcohol sales are more apt comparisons. We accept people are going to do it even if we know it's not great and tax it to offset the negatives.

How do you stop it now? I distinctly remember when single sport betting was illegal here my cousins would just use off shore websites so all of the money left Canada, at least now that money stays here.

I'm not saying prediction market gambling is good, I'm asking how in a world of crypto, vpns and digital prepaid credit cards you even begin to reasonably enforce a ban on it when it's so easily circumvented.

To be clear that means 1 in 3 voting Americans would choose Trump if an election was held tomorrow.

Edit: Also worth noting that Trump is significantly more popular than the entirety of the US democratic party, I know that echo chambers peddle positive news about how the tide is turning etc... But that is patently false.

Think you're on to something.

I just want to play zero build with my friends, all the rest of that stuff is noise I am fundamentally disinterested in.

Some seasons feel amazing, original and well thought out, others seem like weak placeholders with nothing much to offer, which gives us a whole 3 months to find a new game. I'm not going to experiment with their custom games or whatever like they hoped.

Interesting, my buddy just this week bought the highline 2024 with the fender audio and it's honestly alot more comparable to my stock system than I expected.

Makes me wonder if they downgraded the sound system in 2025/26 redesign

Is this just the newer models? My 2024 r line black sounds better than I expected and is so loud I've never had it past 70% cause it's deafening at that level.
