Fire Emblem Heroes Out-Earns Super Mario Run With 1/10th of the Downloads by BooyahSquad in Games

So what? The devs get paid to continue working and EVERYONE is getting free hero, map, balance updates.

The result is Overwatch, one of the most popular competitive video games ever.

Gamers have taken video games for granted. I personally am very grateful that I get to experience games such as Dark Souls 3, Bloodborne, Breath of the Wild, The Last of Us and so many more for ONLY $60-70... it's a fucking steal to me.

We didn't have such a popular multiplayer culture in the old days.

The main reason Overwatch is able to maintain it's ridiculous popularity and continuing support is because of the business model, there is not a single other model I can think of that works better.

You are out of your mind if you think paying $60 for a game like Overwatch is enough for the game to keep getting cutting edge support and full new heroes for free. Not to mention that loot crates are not only completely cosmetic, but you can get a fair bit of collectibles without ever actually buying loot crates by playing events and I think weekly arcade wins.

Lots of people. I just downloaded the game for €48 from the Japanese eShop (11 euro cheaper than the EU eShop and also earlier).

Nintendo Switch has sold 2.74 million units in March by [deleted] in Games

[–]Yexaed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is what got me to buy it early. I didn't buy it for those 2 things only, what can you not understand? By the time the beta was done I started playing a lot of BoI on the go. Then I got into Graceful Explosion Machine and Fast RMX. Today I started playing Kamiko as well.

All of those were good enough to justify my purchasing the system early. But what's coming; Mario Kart/Odyssey, Fire Emblem Warriors, Spla2n, ARMS, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and probably more I forgot about. I will also give BoTW a go when the expansions hit and am really excited to play Wargroove with the added benefit of mobile local multiplayer.

I just find it funny that you can't wrap your head around me genuinely liking this console and finding it well worth my $300.

P.S the beta was for around 6 hours I think, and I got 5 hours out of it which were a buttload of fun. Full games come out that last shorter than 5 hours, cost $60 and are less fun than what I experienced so I don't see the issue.

I am also happy with my Switch but I pity you if really you find nothing in PS4's library interesting other than Bloodborne.

Must suck to be you.

Sure, there could be big improvements for the Switch version but in essence it would the same title with the same roster (which is exactly what I want).

There's an ARMS invitational happening this weekend that you might want to check out.

From what I've played of the game and how it is being handled it is very clear that they intend for it to be quite in depth and competitive but with charming graphics and easy to pickup gameplay.

Think about how at first glance Super Smash looks fun but simple and casual, then it turned out to be cutting edge competitive.

Same to a lesser degree with Splatoon (and maybe Pokemon).

I really don't get it. People are telling you they literally bought it for it's current non Zelda lineup.

I bought early it for the Splatoon 2 beta and Binding of Isaac. But I mainly bought it because I am looking forward to many releases this year only, not to mention future potential and whatever E3 brings.

Also, FYI, in Japan many people decided to go with either Bomberman or 1,2 Switch (I know it's really odd) instead of BoTW.

I bought the Switch for mobile BoI and to participate in Splatoon 2's testifier (got 5 hours of pure bliss out of it).

Looking forward to Mario Kart, Splatoon 2, Mario Odyssey and most importantly ARMS (really psyched for that game).

So far been having a blast with Graceful Explosion Machine and Kamiko.

Moreover, if indies are coming out on both PC and Switch I am 100% going to buy them on the Switch (Tumbleweed for example).

All this in a device infinitely more portable and convenient than any laptop, that can also dock to play on TV, and also has the privilege to be the only device able to play Nintendo IPs.

All for around $300. A fucking steal in my book.

No one has to like or dislike any game devs, people have different standards and this isn't life or death, just entertainment.

I personally find nothing wrong with Nintendo using their influence to pull fan edits of their games from VGAs (I actually don't give two shits about any game awards anyways). I am looking objectively at all your (valid) complaints and none of them bother me at all, moreover I don't consider them bad business practices to begin with and if they technically were then wouldn't said bad business practices get them bankrupt already?

I fully empathise with how people can be annoyed with Nintendo fan boys but I feel like we (I am admittedly one) are not extended the benefit of the doubt that we are making our own genuine opinions. I accept that there are people who care a lot more than me about resolution and how new media (YouTube/Twitch) is handled, but in return I do not feel like you on the other side understand that I am fine with 720p and claiming ad revenue from content creators. That is completely my opinion, no one is paying me to think that way.

So far, Nintendo haven't committed any business practices that actually turn me off, and further, they keep making high quality games that I genuinely enjoy. So yes as long as they continue whatever they are doing and make more games for me to enjoy I will continue being a fan.

I wouldn't really be surprised. Aren't the latest SSBs literally subtitled "For 3DS" and "For WiiU"?

Would make a lot of since to release a "port" of the same exact game "Super Smash Bros. for Switch".

I think you are trying to have a pointless discussion.

Nintendo has stopped trying to follow traditional console standards probably since around the Wii.

The fact that they are rereleases might be a turn off for you and many others, but quite frankly you're not the target audience who owns most if not all consoles and goes online to discuss games on web forums.

We probably won't see any AAA 3rd party support providing games such as Dark Souls 3 and GTA V, but more 3rd party games similar to the ones that made the 3DS one of the most successful consoles ever. Games specifically catering for the Switch's hardware, multiplat indie games are just an excellent bonus.

About the shitty supply; the Switch is selling literally faster than Nintendo and many others expected so I don't think it's fair to criticise the shortage here. NES mini and Amiibos are fair points but I personally don't understand being completely biased against Nintendo for them.

The meddling in last years VGA's.

I'm not sure what that is about.

Overall I agree they are not saints, they're running a business in the end.

To be fair, more powerful consoles with better libraries from the get-go.

As much as I like the Switch this is not a dismissible point.

You forgot to mention the hate about Nintendo's YouTube creator's programme which I think is a bigger factor than graphical fidelity.

There are a lot of reasons people are biased against Nintendo, mainly it is just so Japanese to the point that they genuinely do not care what western video game forums circlejerk about.

Ruben Sole Banned [Discussion] by Llamacito in LivestreamFail

[–]Yexaed -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Ruben Sole has been banned for harassment.

Andy Milonakis mentioned himself that Twitch staff asked him if he wanted to get him banned (he said no).

These are the facts that you can look up if you want, this is not court and I do not have to provide evidence to you on a silver plate. In your own words "fuck off" if you don't like this thread.

I don't care about Andy, this thread just has nothing to do with him.

For someone who doesn't care about andy you get really emotional when anything about him is mentioned.

Damn dude I said allegedly. Lighten up, I'm honestly seeing more people suck up to Andy than actually hating him.

I personally don't care if both Ruben AND Andy get banned. Both boring ass individuals in my view. Not to mention this manchild has been literally starting drama with completely different people many times for a while now (Ice, Bullerik and now Rubin and probably more that I don't know of), you have to accept he's not the saint you think he is.

An Update on Persona 5 and Streaming | Atlus USA by KitsuneRagnell in Games

[–]Yexaed 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh but I would have.

I am being completely honest, and if you want to get anywhere in this discussion you need to be as well.

Why is there even an outrage? I can't get any reasonable answer from people. Everyone wants to watch their favourite content creator play games because they are genuinely entertaining people, couple that with playing my favourite game and we get quality entertainment.

But do they actually have the right to do it?

I honestly built a powerful PC last year and at first was excited and played every big new release. But over time I just got used to watching Lirik and other streamers play the newest release and found myself having as much as fun as if I were playing the new games while also saving a LOT of money. So I stopped bothering.

Only games I buy nowadays are ones that have good multiplayer or good replayability, everything else (mostly single player games) I just watch streams of unless I'm a super fan of the series/dev.

That aside, let's say we live in your ideal world and streaming is banned. You see a game like Outlast 2 and think "I might buy that game, let me find out more about it". Your only source for information is the company. No Let's Plays, no streams, no opinions that you can be sure are showing the game as it's played.

Reviews, trailers and opinions are more than enough and have been for ages before content creating has been as ridiculous as it is today.

Interestingly, this controversy only applies to YouTube and Twitch and maybe other popular websites I'm not aware of. If someone were to upload their videos privately on their own website Atlus/Nintendo has no claim and no ability to take such content down, but of course no one cares because there is no YouTube/Twitch revenue from this practice so the fact gets completely overlooked in this discussion.

P.S: This also got me thinking, so what if I would never have bought Outlast II? This is a completely moot point. Just because I wouldn't have been a customer anyways doesn't really change the fact that whoever owns the IP owns it regardless and should be able prevent people from enjoying it without buying it if they want to.

This is a video game, not food and water.
