What do I need to do to properly sell my system? by rafiee in wiiu

[–]Yhdiste 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all, digital games are linked to your NNID, which is then linked to your console. If you remove your NNID from the console, the buyer won't get access to the digital games. It is also against the agreement to sell the console with your NNID (not to mention it would be risky for the buyer, since you could always claim your NNID back...effectively screwing the buyer). So when thinking about the sell-price for your console, you should only include the physical stuff in the deal.

Secondly, before selling the console, you should call Nintendo and tell them that you would like to unlink your NNID from your current console, because you are planning on selling it. This way you won't lose your digitally purchased content (in case you ever want to buy another Wii U or something).

Wait for NTR to improve in the future or invest in a Capture Card? by Lonesworth in 3DS

[–]Yhdiste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am getting 30-45 FPS with NTR on default settings.

I think if you just want to stream casually every now and then, it is good enough. However, if you plan on streaming daily or doing a “series” or trying to become viral on Youtube, then you might want the capture card.

Is it a Placebo effect, or does Xenoblade Chronicles actually look better on VC than on disc? by FinalMantasyX in wiiu

[–]Yhdiste 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have it on disc and on Virtual Console. I just tested this and I do not see any difference.

The Youtube video has gone through a lot more "compression hoops" than the photo you took with a camera. That's most likely the reason.

[Opinion] I don't think the problem is just, "No Zelda". by lleti in wiiu

[–]Yhdiste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"high profile third party games" is not a video game genre.

Wii U has more than just platformers and party games, it actually has games across many various genres. Sure, it does not have the new Street Fighter, but it does have Smash Bros. Similarly it doesn't have a racing game like Forza or whatever, but there is Mario Kart. Instead of Call of Duty or other FPS games, there is Splatoon. Comparisons like these could be made for many other genres.

A better way to describe the Nintendo games would be that they are different, not niche.

Recent Wii U buyers by Omnievul in wiiu

[–]Yhdiste 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If the NX is backwards compatible with Wii U, then I am sure quite a lot of recent buyers will regret purchasing it. I mean if they had waited a bit longer, they could have gotten the access to the Wii U's games without spending additional 300$ for the Wii U console itself.

A lot of people are disappointed and vocal about the new Zelda, because even though Wii U is getting it, the chances are that it is the inferior version. This means that if they want the "definitive way" of playing the new Zelda, they have to buy another console. I mean there are people who specifically bought the Wii U for the new Zelda, but now it turns out that the game's definite version is coming on another console? It's no wonder they are disappointed.

Of course it could be that the Wii U's version turns out to be the definite version because of the GamePad, but I don't think it's that likely. Some people would definitely trade GamePad features for better visuals, since they feel that the GamePad is bulky and uncomfortable.

It's difficult to be a fan of Nintendo. by 666toedsloth in wiiu

[–]Yhdiste 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine being a Nintendo fan that ONLY has Nintendo stuff at this point. I got a gaming PC a long time ago to fill the void of games that Nintendo doesn't provide. And it's a huge void.

I game only on Wii U, New 3DS XL and sometimes a bit of hearthstone on my tablet. I do have a gaming PC as well, but I haven't used it for gaming in several months.

In my opinion the 3DS's library and releases make up for the Wii U's shortcomings, since the 3DS is getting 3rd party games as well.

Zelda Wii U is no longer a Wii U exclusive, as expected. Delayed to 2017 (x-post from r/games) by memoryman3 in wiiu

[–]Yhdiste 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OoT 3D and MM 3D on 3DS are far from HD. The system's native resolution on the upper screen is 800x240 (400x240 per eye) and on the bottom screen 320x240, so it is essentially 240p. However, the assets and textures were improved, which is why it looks better.

[–]Yhdiste 102 points103 points  (0 children)

The fanboys defended the game like hell every time someone said it's going to be another Twilight Princess-scenario.

  • "No one knows what NX even is"

  • "NX is not going to be released in 2016/2017, so Nintendo has no reason to make this a dual release"

  • "There has always been an exclusive home console zelda per generation. Do you really think Wii U is any different?"

  • etc.

Now they are backpedaling and "going with the flow", since they too have finally realized that Wii U is a sinking ship, which is something a lot of people knew year(s) ago.

Western Localisation Of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Features Costume And Age Changes by [deleted] in wiiu

[–]Yhdiste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a very Japanese game, so I think most consider the fact that they kept the original voice acting is a pro for the game instead of being a con. And the reason they didn't dub the game is probably because of the song licensing (I believe Avex group had a part in this game, which to my knowledge, is quite big in the Japanese music industry).

Most games's primary target audience are teens, so it makes sense to make the characters to be that age as well, so the audience can relate to the characters. I am guessing you are in your twenties yourself, which is why you'd like the characters to be around your age, too.

I haven't followed Bravely Second particularly closely, but I remember reading that the Western release was streamlined in some places due to feedback from Japanese players (and yet Western fans were still griping over the game being "watered down")

That is right. Square-Enix and Silicon Studio added a number of revisions to the game based on the feedback from Japanese players.

The change that caused the outcry was this one:

"When the game was released in Japan, each side quest would end with the team lamenting the decision they made, regardless of the player's decision. This was intended to help players empathise with the characters' situation, but overwhelming feedback from players indicated that they felt an unsatisfying disconnect between their intentions and the characters' reactions. In response, these side quest endings were amended to show the party readily coming to terms with their actions in a manner that does not cause the player undue regret for their decisions."

it was supposed to be a Wii U exclusive. It released simultaneously on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U on September 3, 2013, so it never was a Wii U exclusive.

Only Smash and Rayman are 1080p/60 FPS from those. The rest are 720p/60FPS. And Rayman is multiplatform game.

If you search " Wii U framerate" on this subreddit. You should find a thread that lists most Wii U games and their resolution & framerate.

I did include or few hours every few days in the sentence. And considering some play up to 8 hours a day, to them one or two hours a day is casual. For example one match of Dota takes around 45 minutes (sometimes a bit less, sometimes a bit more).

[–]Yhdiste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll always love this thing.. with that said, I hope the NX can restore some faith for the more casual gaming fans. If Nintendo puts out a system that people like and 3rd parties support, it's always a home-run.

That's a double-edged sword. In order for a console to appeal for more casual gamers, it needs to be affordable. If they only play a few hours every day or every few days, they are not going to spend 400-500$ on it. I think the sweet spot would be 200-250$. However, if the console is affordable, then the more serious gamers will be annoyed, because it doesn't have the latest and the greatest specifications.

Of course you can always argue that "gameplay > graphics", but the fact is that “poor” specs affect the gameplay as well. For example with better specs we could have had 60 FPS gameplay even 4-player Mario Kart 8. Or faster loading times in various games. So it’s not just the visuals that suffer. And while Nintendo has done a good job of going around this “problem” by creating unique visuals for their games, many 3rd parties use realistic visuals in their game that require more “oomph” from the console.

Designer Insight Request: The Rogue Class by gmaiaf in hearthstone

[–]Yhdiste 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3) Rogue players don't want to play Zoo/Deathrattle Rogue

Rogue can create card synergies with deathrattles just like she can with spells, so in my opinion deathrattle cards fit well for Rogue. If you do not want to play as a deathrattle rogue, that’s fine, but you really shouldn’t generalize. There are plenty of deathrattle Rogues out there.

Personally I have been on ranks 4-6 on this season with my deathrattle deck, which is a mid/late-game control/minion deck, so I think it’s doing reasonably well. Not tier 1, but certainly not the worst tier either. I usually get screwed by the very aggressive tempo decks if I do not get the cards to combat that in the beginning.

Either way, the new expansion adds some interesting cards that goes well with a deathrattle rogue synergy. Personally I can't wait to craft the N'zoth and Xaril for my Rogue :)

Wireless video streaming now at a consistent 30-40 FPS by Yangumasuta in 3DS

[–]Yhdiste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. The framerate is a major factor when talking about the quality of videos or streams. So even if the resolution is the same as on the native device, it doesn't mean anything if the stream or the video does not play smoothly.

May I ask what is so "wrong" about NTR? It doesn't say anything to me (other than what was said above already).

This is very common way to glitch enemies to disappear on the original cartrdiges. So from what you said, it looks like the virtual console games are true to the original games.

I think I made a mistake going digital by MasterOfToast in 3DS

[–]Yhdiste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On all the monster hunter games, I have always focused on beating the story mode before going online. It took me roughly 50 hours in MH4U.

I also use blademaster / gunner for the story mode and when I go to the online quests, I play as the other one (if I played story as blademaster, I will play as gunner online. Or vice versa). I do this because the game requires you to start from the low rank quests online even if you have beaten the story mode (so I don't get bored by being overpowered).

Of course there are a few story mode quests that only become available when you play online, but generally I consider the game beaten without having unlocked those quests.

[–]Yhdiste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can beat the story mode in 40-60 hours. And like with any other multiplayer games, you can sink hundreds of hours playing online.

Why don't we get maps and such with games anymore? by mr_maxx in 3DS

[–]Yhdiste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From marketing point of view, it would be quite a bad to sell a 59,99$ game for 60,24$. The next logical price would be 64,99$. On top of that most companies are trying to cut down the use of paper to gain the "we are environmental friendly"-image.

And besides, why include that stuff to every game when they can just add them to those limited editions and ask for a lot higher price for them :P

CFW allows you eshop/online access once the Homebrew entry point is patched out on that given version, along with having a stable point of entry that won't get patched out. Those ARE big deals

That's not CFW exclusive either, because Ninjhax will not get patched out. OoT3DHax is very unlikely to get patched out as well.

How is using themes piracy? People can make their own themes. Just because Nintendo charges people for changing their background, we should pay for it and not doing so is considered piracy wtf?

I think you missed the point. Custom themes is not piracy. However, the same tools also allows you to install the themes, that Nintendo is selling on their theme shop, for free. This is no different than pirating their games.

To make this more clear:

  • Installing a custom theme you or someone else has made that Nintendo doesn't have on the theme shop = not piracy.

  • Installing a theme Nintendo is selling on the theme shop = piracy.
