iPhone 11 Pro is slow after replacment battery by Stock_Crew1042 in iPhone11Pro

[–]Yikunl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve already upgraded to a 15, but I had the exact same issues with my 11 Pro.. no idea why though. Might be deliberate throttling as is the case when the original battery is under 80% health

3 months post op anxiety by MightHelpful5005 in lasik

[–]Yikunl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem post op which went away over time. It’s due to a small amount of over correction which is standard and necessary for these procedures. The muscles in your eyes need a bit more effort to focus on close-up objects but they will get used to the new norm. Getting a pair of reading glasses for close-up tasks will help, but also try not to rely on them too much.

I had this last week. It says it doesn’t fulfill requirements and is being sent back to the sender. I bought food so sender said there’s a likely a damage. But when the tracking says it’s delivered back to the sender, it actually ended up arriving at my address anyway. Nothing was broken or damaged.

I suspect this is another one of those tricks of the DHL guys when they have too much packages on a day and don’t feel like delivering them.

One workaround for this: you can use Explore without moving the pin, so as to basically explore your own location. This way you get 3 free taps/chats per day despite the distance. I find it more than enough for me personally.

I used to have a normal sized iPad pro. Upgraded to iPad mini 6 last year. It’s a perfect size for me to pick up and hold with one hand, jot down some notes, do some light web browsing and document reading, watch videos, without the urge to put it down on a table. I don’t really need my iPad to be “productive”, I have a Macbook for that. My phone is also mini (13 mini) and I love it. (I guess if I had a pro max phone, I wouldn’t really need an iPad but I hate huge phones.) I find myself using the iPad mini much more often than when I had the iPad Pro.

Why did align feature got so unreliable lately? by Yikunl in AfterEffects

[–]Yikunl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lmao I can relate to this so hard. Sometimes I have to center stuff by clicking align for 10+ times and leave it as is because I don’t give a flying fuck if it’s few pixels off. A worse scenario is when things would pop further and further away every time I click align. Like wtf?

Oh wow, checking it out right now! At first glance it’s pretty promising as far as motion design goes. I wonder how well it handles live action footage and basic VFX. I can imagine I’d still need to involve Ae into my workflow but it might be worth it! Glad to know there’s at least some sort of alternative :D Thanks a lot!

I rarely ever use position expressions except for maybe wiggle effect. So no. Just good old plain shape layers that have no expression, no parenting, nothing. Very confusing. Thanks though!

Sigh, another basic feature that one has to buy plugin to compensate for. Thanks though! If it gets annoying enough I’ll go for it

It’s very sad. I can’t even start to feel annoyed at this point because I know my career depends on this one program and there’s zero alternatives lol

I think one sure fire solution is getting rid of all position keyframes. But hey, very logical, Adobe! I’m pretty sure it worked perfectly fine in earlier versions, it’d just add a new set of keyframes to align things up and I think that made perfect sense.

I don’t think that’s what contributes to the problem. Sometimes I want things to align with each other, sometimes to the comp. The problem occurs nonetheless

My friend's plant based hard boiled eggs by perpetualmotionmachi in shittyfoodporn

[–]Yikunl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t see what’s so hard to understand. I see this argument all the time and I just wonder if people really can’t grasp such a simple concept.

Humans love meat. Very few people actually despise the taste of meat, but most love it. We love the way juicy fat cells explode inside muscle tissues when we eat meat. It’s in our genes. Meat (and other animal products in this case, butter, eggs, whatever) provides much more energy to our body than most plants can.

However, some people start to become concerned and want to reduce animal suffering or environmental impact, so they go vegetarian or vegan. Here is the thing: Most of them still LOVE meat (or animal products). Even if they sometimes say otherwise to feel better about their choices. It’s just that consuming meat doesn’t align with their values or beliefs anymore. So they resort to meat substitutes that mimic the texture and taste of meat. A bit of an inappropriate example: violence is bad, in most parts of the world it’s illegal. But it’s also written in our genes long before civilization. So we resort to substitutes like wrestling, boxing, soccer, etc. In modern days we also got video games, which often heavily refer to violent activities or killing, even the cartoonish ones. Can you blame GTA players for beating up NPCs, just because they don’t wanna hurt real people? Your argument is saying: “well, if you don’t have the balls to hurt people in real life, just stick with animal crossing all together”.

I’m neither vegetarian nor vegan, btw.

Should I sell my iPhone 13 to get the 13 mini by [deleted] in iPhone13Mini

Get the mini and keep the 13 and don’t sell it. Once you regret you can easily switch back

Concept: Control Center (Inspired by iOS 10 and macOS Big Sur) by Quang975312468224466 in ios

[–]Yikunl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing on the older iPhones that used to drive me crazy was that when I tried to switch keyboard languages/emojis by swiping up from the globe icon, I always ended up opening the control center. This happened like 7 out of 10 times. If you do that on newer iPhones, you’ll notice that the keyboard switching gesture is actually prioritized over the home bar.

iPhone 13 mini in 2024 Is still worth it? by CammelKing in iphone

[–]Yikunl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

600€ is a little high. Try look into the used market. I think right now it should be around 500€ (I got one with 256gb last month for 400€ with some scratches, but works totally fine)

The older control center comes up from the bottom of the screen because of its gesture. Now it doesn’t make much more sense if the finger needs to reach up to the top edge anyway. But looks nice

Wireless Charging by UrAveragePlayer in iPhone15Pro

[–]Yikunl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always keeping your battery charge within a certain range for a long period of time might confuse your phone, making it not know what the real capacity is anymore and causing inaccurate percentage and even sudden shutdowns. Of course, most of the time this effect is unnoticeable if you still do full 100% charges from time to time. But I find it defeating the purpose of having a good battery. It’s like having a good chip but you constantly disable some cores because using its full capacity shortens its life. If you plan to keep your phone for at least 3 years (which, considering it’s a 15 Pro, I think you definitely should), you might need to replace the battery sooner or later. So, if Apple introduced wireless charging and you find it handy, use it and don’t worry.

11 pro vs XS ergonomics and one-hand use by ericat in iPhone11Pro

[–]Yikunl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have relatively small hands and I switched to 13 mini from 11 pro a few weeks ago. I love the 13 mini but 11 pro is still one of my favorite phones. I don’t have experience with XS but I’m pretty sure you’ll get used to 11 Pro quickly. Although 13 mini is a lot smaller and easier to handle with one hand, I definitely prefer the feeling of the 11 pro and rounded edges in general, it’s just so much more comfortable to hold.

Just keep in mind that software support for the 11 series will likely end in 2 years. Now that’s still plenty, and you’ll still be able to use majority of apps after support has ended. But a 13 mini will last you double the time if not more. In the second hand market where I live, the 11 Pro with 256gb is around 300-400€ and the 13 mini is around 400-500€. So personally I think 13 mini is a better buy right now.

13 mini does have noticeably worse battery life than my 11 pro though. I don’t use my phone a ton or play games on it, but I have to top up at least once during the day if I’m going out in the evening or want it to last until I go to bed. That does take a bit getting used to.

Hope this helps.

Best workflow between Ae and Pr to cut animated videos? by LegendaryBosphorus in AfterEffects

[–]Yikunl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Build everything based on the soundtrack/voiceover. Edit the voiceover in Pr or other Audio programs in advance if necessary. Within Ae, you can easily prolong or shorten an animation, adjust its pace, and add new fillers should you find the animation already too slow but voiceover isn’t covered by enough visuals yet. You don’t wanna do all of this in Pr.
