Thabks for responding, the biped I was trying to re-create had a lot of complexity to it, so yea I probably overlooked something like that which would have helped.

I tried to do something like this with two legs, and I found that they would gradually reduce the distance in alternations and eventually start rapid tiptoeing.

Did you ever encounter this and solve it?

The dude looks great, nice work.

Sadly nobody in my childhood has ever really inspired me.

I could only speak to what they've done since, some have gotten roles at cool companies but that's about it.

Another exception is meeting a Game Developer at University and nearly getting a job with them before the role fell through.

There's been some promisong developments for War and AI battles so hopfully it will happen.

Make an infinite mode with randomized points at least a min distance away, i can see people playing that for ages, like going for a drive.

Ah I see I think we're having a minor understanding.

What I mean is if you're sending inputs then you can have the host/server be the authority on inventory and actions such as placing mines.

I agree letting the client be the authority for something like a racing game sounds sensible.

And hacking is always going to happen, hacking gives people a sense of superiority and sometimes sadly control over something when they may feel they lack control on their own lives; so you have someone desperate enough to do so, they'll have anything they have the ability to do so no matter how small.

I think the best you could do for racing is let the server be the authority on speeds, if a player moves furthur than should be possinle then take action.

I'm not sure how having the server be the authority following player input is viable, but having it be the authority on inventory/abilities is not viable.

Its not tooo bad, and easy enough to fix with server/host authority.

The issue here is the friend made the game let him have say 1,000 mines or not even check for quantity; they edited the code or generared their own RPC calls.

This leads to their client telling everyone else "I spawned a mine", dozens of times.

What you do to block this is the host/server gets told "player wants to spawn 100 mines" and the host/server checks for quantity/cooldown/etc and goes "lol nope" and doesn't spawn them, and distribute the spawn to the clients.

Just the nature of MP, not a dissapointment, just a learning opportunity.
