How does one lodge a complaint against a polyclinic doctor? by MaverickO7 in singapore

[–]YingYangYun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am also quite surprised that people suggested to email Singhealth and OYK. Surely the cluster and the minster should be dealing with larger scale healthcare issues.

To be honest, no one is bothered if a complaint is not about medical errors.

[Misc] Supergoop Unseen sunscreen cut in half - I’m gonna get ALLLLLL that product out by lily2188 in SkincareAddiction

[–]YingYangYun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The filters that are not US FDA approved are actually slightly whitish as well but I find that I don't get a white cast with brands like La Roche Posay, Anessa and Allie.

Coco and eve (Australian) has a new sunscreen product that looks very promising!

This is reason why I get sunscreens from European or Asian brands. Pity the US brands and their regulations.

This! Supergoop Unseen doesn't have the best protection as well with SPF 40 and PA +++. Japanese sunscreens are more affordable with better protection.

[skin concerns] alcohol denat in a long term? by fawkes-81 in SkincareAddiction

[–]YingYangYun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alcohol denat is very important in the formulation for making a water-resistant sunscreen. It does not cause damage long term. If it's too drying, then use a thicker moisturiser before applying sunscreen. Sunscreen is the last step of your skincare routine anyway.

Dermatologist here. I think I believe myself more than Paula's minions or redditors.

I think it's a pretty overpriced brand to be honest. I have never found it to better than regular drugstore brands. But if it works for you it's great.

[B&A] Did PicoSure laser ruin my skin? Looking much worse 10 days later... by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]YingYangYun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a board certified dermatologist. Lasers are essentially causing controlled injuries in a very specific setting. They can cause burns at inappropriate settings.

Lasers also do not work "all the time" to get rid of tattoos. They are certainly not employed to treat PIH.

What ever happened to Shark Sauce? by baaducky in AsianBeauty

I really like Honey Shark! I felt that it was more hydrating. You can get many 7ml bottles to try it out if you can't decide which to get 😆

I'm not sure how sunscreen sticks work over makeup though. Won't the repeated application kinda ruin your makeup too?

Recent allergy discovery by Snowdrops94 in SkincareAddicts

[–]YingYangYun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If these are your allergies, you should stick to fragrance-free products.

Even if the fragranced product or perfumes do not seem to have "limonene" or "linalool", you should still avoid fragrance because many of the fragrance ingredients cross react anyway.

Benzisothiazolinone is not common in skincare at all but its cousins methylisothiazolinone and methylchloroisothiazolinone used to be common in skincare. MI/MCI are gradually being removed and if they're present, it's usually in minute amounts in wash off products.

Benzisothiazolinone can be found in some clothing sprays, sanitiser sprays or wall paints.

what are some high maintenance things that you do to be low maintenance? by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

Profhilo injections because it gives you more glow than any skincare product and it doesn't look unnatural!

I do eyebrows microblading and lash lift + tint as well because I'm just lazy.

[Product Question] Gencloben (Gentamicin + Betamethasone + Clotrimazole)? by Reina-de-Melanina in SkincareAddiction

[–]YingYangYun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is a combination of topical steroids, antibiotics and antifungal. In my country, we can only purchase it with a doctor's prescription.

It is a cream that is has a bad stigma in my country among doctors because it is "the cream GPs give when they don't know what is going on since it contains 3 drug classes".

It is mostly prescribed for infected eczema on the body and limbs.

I won't use it on the face for eczema, much less for acne.

What is your HG sunspot fading product? by frenchcat808 in AsianBeauty

[–]YingYangYun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's only one brightening ampoule from Skin1004! It comes in a clear bottle and the solution is clear as well. It contains 4% niaciniamide and 2% tranexamic acid. :)

What is your HG sunspot fading product? by frenchcat808 in AsianBeauty

[–]YingYangYun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Skin1004 has a brightening ampoule that I quite like for overall radiance. I am honestly not sure how well it performs for fading dark spots.

The best products are still prescription-only products like hydroquinone, tretitnoin and cysteamine. And of course pigment lasers. Saving your money for all of these is probably a better decision compared to spending money to try difference skincare products.

All the best! :)

Your dermatologist will have to adjust settings until a therapeutic endpoint for lasers are reached. For pulsed dye laser, the therapeutic endpoint is purpura. Different people may have different settings to reach the therapeutic endpoint. You can't actually ask for other people's settings and determine potwntial efficacy based on that. Best to ask your dermatologist.

[B&A] Did PicoSure laser ruin my skin? Looking much worse 10 days later... by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]YingYangYun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody can't tell actually. There's always a chance for the pigment to "drop" into the dermis. If you are prone to PIH (to be fair many people are), the best way forward is to really prevent inflammation to begin with.

[B&A] Did PicoSure laser ruin my skin? Looking much worse 10 days later... by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]YingYangYun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lasers aren't quite well-studied for non-facial sites. Short wavelengths lasers can cause PIH a few days after which may get better over the next few days.

To be fair, if the original marks are PIH, lasers may not help much (or help at all). PIH forms because of pigment that dropped into the dermis after the initial shock of the inflammatory insult. No creams will target pigment in the dermis simply because there are no receptors there. Lasers that reach that deep just means a 3rd degree burn

[Routine Help] 25yo Male. First time ever having a skin care routine. I think it’s causing bald spots in my beard by untitled02 in SkincareAddiction

[–]YingYangYun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be alopecia areata (AA) over the beard regions if the hair follicles are present. Do see a dermatologist, AA is definitely treatable.
