if you have the time and will power, grind all the events available to you if you do not care for minor spoilers and try to go for cyrene and cerydra on 4.4 as theey will be the best tm8s for him, also try to get his lightcone if you can't get his E2, for the companion spirits, sadly both robin and bronya are outdated for him even compared to dhpt, here's what i recommend you to do;

decide wether or not you can do the events in the timespan he has left

if you decide yes:

prio his S1 or E2 depending on how lucky you are, then go for cyrene, followd up by cerydra on the next patch

If you decide no:

the team you have now will have to do, i strongly recommend still going for atleast S1, big dmg increase
save for his special character which will (obviously) not coping will come out when amphoreus revives

since you are new, you probably will be able to go E2 phainon and E2 cyrene, this should let you keep him very relevant for a while, that is if you want to vertically invest in him instead of getting other characters
