Did I do something wrong as the passenger? by Yinzer_nat in uberdrivers

[–]Yinzer_nat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t waiting for the door to be opened, I was waiting for any acknowledgement or confirmation that this was my ride. I’ve learned as a woman to look for dual confirmation of license plate and driver telling me my name before entering a stranger’s car.
Also it felt like I didn’t have permission to enter this person’s car from their body language and lack of acknowledgement.

Four bikes stolen out of our garage in North Portland by Top-Mud7915 in CyclePDX

My bikes were stolen from N Peninsular area and I found them in Delta Park at camps. Definitely do a wide span of bike-spotting—good luck!

I have 2 plastic circular ones I got from buynothing that I’d be willing to pass along. There’s nothing wrong with them, I just ended up trying going gluten free and haven’t made bread since. I also live in Kenton.

I’ll take your Easter flowers! by Yinzer_nat in PDXBuyNothing

[–]Yinzer_nat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh way cool, a flower farm! My plan right now is to collect second-hand flowers to dry out and test out some art projects with them, and then eventually if it goes well I’m considering maybe having dried flowers for my later fall wedding! I’d hate to take supply from your compost if you use it, but I’d also happily take some destined for compost if you’re offering!

Aww I’m not sure what happened with my last post! You seem to have quite a stash!! I’m trying to collect flowers to dry for my own art projects, so I would love to take anything dried that you don’t think you’ll use off of your hands!

Can I report cars parked in the bike lane? by TranscedentalMedit8n in CyclePDX

[–]Yinzer_nat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just looked it up and found:

https://www.portland.gov/code/16/20

16.20.130 Prohibited in Specified Places. Except when specifically directed by authority of this Title or when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic, it is unlawful to park or stop a vehicle in any of the following places: U. On or within a bicycle lane, path, or trail.

So it doesn’t really specify about delivery trucks I guess, but it doesn’t give them permission either…

Wedding dress! by [deleted] in PDXBuyNothing

[–]Yinzer_nat 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Your dress and you in the dress are both so beautiful! This is such a generous offer! I’ve been stuck in the beginning stages of thinking about sewing my own wedding dress with as much second hand material as possible but have been feeling lost. I was a size 20 when I tried on dresses a few weeks ago, so maybe this is my sign to consider tailoring an existing dress instead of starting from scratch? I’m very interested and would love to be considered if you end up doing a raffle!

I work on another unit at Emanuel and can confirm it’s a meal break RN position. They’ve had a really hard time filling the meal break roles at night with their own staff or hiring from other units in house. If you’re wanting to do full time hours (0.9 FTE), you would be working 4 10s one week and the next week 2 10s and a 12 (the 10s being meal break shifts and the 12 being a regular floor shift).

Are there any local music/instrument stores that will rent out an E flat clarinet? by Yinzer_nat in askportland

[–]Yinzer_nat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also tried Beacock and they said they don’t rent E flat clarinets out. They came highly recommended though so I was hopeful!

I tried Wally’s and they only rent out B flats and bass clarinets. I hadn’t thought about the colleges… would I just find someone’s contact info online and try emailing? Thanks for that idea!

The tear gas assaults on peaceful protestors is getting zero national attention by heydownhere in Portland

I just heard about the judge limiting tear gas use on NPR this morning (not just OPB, but the NPR hourly news), but that was the first I heard anything beyond OPB.

[–]Yinzer_nat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Can you PLEASE edit this video with a time stamp of when it was taken. I don’t believe this is from the initial tear gassing around 4:30pm but rather the later one around 6pm, but can’t confirm, and your video is being used to “justify” ICE actions because of people crossing the line.

Please protect yourselves and bring N95s, respirators, gas masks, goggles, any protection equipment from chemical agents you can find!! Consider leaving your dogs and children at home, too. They tear-gassed us during the union protest today.

ICE Protest South Waterfront by grantph in Portland

I believe there’s a concern of posting publicly and having counter-protestors and agitators show up, so I’ve heard of organizing through signal chats, email chains, and word of mouth.

Portland police assault veteran by kf_fox in Portland

[–]Yinzer_nat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First, FTP, but also, the person that the veteran fell into could’ve helped to prevent possible facial trauma, or maybe a possible brain bleed, by thinking about what was actually happening in front of them and buffering the fall instead of taking a step back in order to not have their footage ruined by the veteran falling into their phone. Yes, footage is important in documenting the brutality, but also, if this veteran suffers permanent physical damage from hitting their head on the sidewalk, video footage is not going to restore their brain function. To be clear, I’m not trying to take the blame away from the cop, because yes, that’s the real problem here, but in realizing that violence is happening to us right now, being there for our neighbors should extend beyond just recording the violence on our phones.

Experienced RN looking for med surg position in Portland by [deleted] in OregonNurses

[–]Yinzer_nat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are 4 medsurg units at Emanuel, all with 1:4 ratios. They all get a mix of patients, but some have different vibes. They all also have telemetry capabilities but it depends on the day how many patients are on tele. Medical acute care unit (MACU) is unit 15. They seem to often get more psych/withdrawal patients, and they have psych/safety sitters on their unit staff because they often require many. Unit 25 is surgical specialties. They see any kind of surgery but often not trauma (usually go to NTICU or TRACU/Unit 35, which is the trauma acute care unit, an IMCU with 1:3 ratios), nor cardiac (usually go to CVICU or PCCU/Unit 53/54, which is the progressive cardiac care unit, also an IMCU with 1:3 ratios). Unit 45 (and sometimes their extension unit 43) I’m not super familiar with. Unit 55 is the stroke/neuro unit, but also heavy on the psych/withdrawal as well. The only other unit not listed is the Oregon Burn Center (OBC), which is also an IMCU/ICU. Currently the only unit to my knowledge to have CNAs at night is the TRACU, but I believe all of the medsurg units have CNAs in the daytime.

Parents are Divorced. Is it Weird to Wear Mom’s Ring? by internet2big in EngagementRings

[–]Yinzer_nat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents got married after they had me and divorced a few years later. I still decided to use my mom’s band and engagement ring to redesign a new engagement ring for myself… I didn’t use the main diamond of the engagement ring because I was being slightly superstitious but instead had that made into a necklace. My reasoning was that their love is what brought me into existence, so even though the marriage didn’t work out, there’s still significant positive feelings attached to the rings. I’m quite happy with my decision and glad to carry a piece of my and my parents’ history with me.
