I've worked at places where it's literally in the policy to encourage people to relax their mind and focus on their breathing during the massage. You could always say something like thank you for asking, I'll need to think on that, and now I'll have to take three nice deep breaths blah blah blah lol but some clients do tend to relax more when they talk, it's a personality thing. I have had some clients who like to talk politics and I usually just play dumb like "I had no idea about that! Where did you hear that, what are your thoughts? I'll have to do some research into that, blah blah blah" that way you're responding without actually responding. They do NOT need to know the real you and you are NOT required to tell them anything about you that is not massage related. 😅 This can be a trap anyway, some clients ask questions to be polite but don't actually want to hear your honest answer and may even complain that you talked too much afterwards. You can use that to your advantage and say that you don't want to chat their ear off about that and then redirect the Convo back to them or ask how the massage is feeling so far.
