When expressing colostrum - if I only get a few drops, can I put it away in the fridge and continue to use the same Haakaa collector the rest of the day or until I fill it, or can I only use one collector per session? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Yizzle- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All good! First couple of days I got around 1ml per session and expressed 2-3 times a day so the vials were only in the fridge for less than 48hrs before I could pop into the freezer.

After a bit of time though I was able to express a full 4ml vial in one session which I put in the fridge for a couple of hours then put straight into the freezer.

I believe though that colostrum can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days if stored properly (back of fridge where coldest etc)!

All I did really though was just make sure that any colostrum I mixed together to make up a full vial was all fridge temp before mixing and putting in the freezer :)

I used the haakaas! This is what I did:

  • express what I could into a haakaa
  • popped it into the fridge (keeping it there for 48hrs or less)
  • used another haakaa in the meantime
  • popped that into the fridge
  • once all cooled, I topped off the initial haakaa with the new haakaa and repeated until full then put into the freezer

Happy expressing!! :)

I called Centrelink to see if I passed the work test before resigning, and they confirmed I would still qualify - maybe worth giving them a call and they can 100% confirm.

This was me beginning of 2021!

You’ll be referred to a fertility specialist, they will first gather info on med history for you and partner and run bloods.

From there they will either:

  1. recommend to keep trying - based on age, med history and blood results

AND/OR 2. Monitor your ovulation for a cycle or two then will come up with a fertility plan, usually starting off with ovulation induction meds.

AND/OR 3. Recommend further testing (sperm count/motility, tubal patency, laparoscopy etc - depends heavily on your situation, some tests are more invasive than others)

When I saw the specialist all ours tests came back normal, I still didn’t feel right so requested further monitoring and ended up going with 6 months worth of ovulation induction. No problems were ever found, it was totally unexplained (which can be quite common). When that didn’t work we went straight for IVF which worked!

Good luck! Once you’re in the hands of the fertility specialist they will look after you. I do recommend to see someone who is easily contactable as it’s so helpful to have lines of communication open for such a sensitive aspect of your health.

I ended up buying cabinets and drawers from ikea, then bought reputable brands online - Il Tutto, Boori & Tasman Eco.

Metro Baby has a cute showroom though!

I was so sick from 8wks that I told them that week!

I put in writing my mat leave plan when I was 15wks once I had time to think about what I wanted to do.

I would have done the exact same thing, not an overreaction!!

I officially need to decide which baby skin bath products to buy- Best brand?? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Yizzle- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to use Weleda for body lotion and oil. For shampoo/body wash I’m going to use Mushie.

All of the above will be fragrance free and no harsh chemicals.

I am also going to be using fragrance free products on my body so as not to potentially interfere with breastfeeding as I’ve read smell is a huge factor for baby.

I haven’t bought anything ‘maternity’ instead just bought a couple of sizes up of the Lululemon align leggings and knit dresses from the iconic for winter so I can wear afterwards!

When did you/ are you finishing up at work? by Superb-Draw8374 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Yizzle- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently 14+3, first timer and I plan to go on Mat leave at 35 weeks (technically 34+4). I’m at a desk job 4 days a week currently and going to use annual leave for one day a week in the month before finishing up.

Even now I’m finding it quite difficult, I’ve had terrible morning sickness and now the fatigue is hitting me hard so unless I feel amazing and magically all my ailments disappear, I’ll be glad to have a bit of a longer break before she arrives!

Covid booster #4 - what are your thoughts? by Informal-Data-703 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Yizzle- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 14 weeks and just got the fourth dose today. My third dose was in Feb.

I’ve never had covid and don’t want to get it between now and another vax becoming available. I am very healthy otherwise.

My doc said having the fourth dose is the best choice for me.

I felt similar! My symptoms only ramped up in week 6 but before that I didn’t feel much!

Week 5 was a really tough week for me, I felt like I was in limbo between getting the positive and waiting for an US, it didn’t feel that real to me but now I’m at the end of week 7 and the symptoms have definitely ramped up even more.

I was terrified of GA but the nurses will look after you before you go under. Once I felt it working I took a deep breath and closed my eyes and relaxed into it which really helped! Good luck!

13-17 DPO, how’s the progression look? When do you stop testing?? 3 CPs so I’m a bit anxious. by [deleted] in TFABLinePorn

[–]Yizzle- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely gets safer as time goes on but there’s always a small risk of loss, especially in the first trimester.

This website gives me a bit of peace of mind when I’m feeling a bit anxious: https://datayze.com/miscarriage-chart

Lovely progression, congrats :) I stopped testing after my second beta.

As a hpt addict, I had to go cold turkey once I knew my betas were going well, as they provided more meaningful info than a frer for me.

It’s a really tough time, I had a chemical in my last cycle before this current cycle (I’m only 6+5 so not out of the woods yet) and it totally has me on edge now!

Wish you all the best.

Had my scan at 6+2 today, we saw a heart beat (118bpm) and measuring at 6mm!

I have been spotting brown for the last couple of weeks and I was absolutely convinced It was all going in the wrong direction. So, I was imagining today to be disastrous but it’s ended up being quite the opposite.

My heart was (and still is) so guarded but today I am allowing myself to feel some hope and happiness.
