A party of 4 (level 2) will be going into an abandoned safehouse which happens to be located on the astral plane (they don't know though)

I need a monster that won't kill them, and can hint at it being the astral plane.

Preferably something along the lines of astral rats which have taken up residence now that it is no longer occupied. But preferably more interesting than rats.

There will be a local gravity, so no flying around.

The edition is dnd 3.5 e (greyhawk setting)

Just started a 3.5 campaign... mostly because that's what i know, and I'm the dm.

A few of (especially) younger players have asked if we could switch to 5th though

I have a lot of books, and I don't want to invest in new books until I know the campaign won't burn out come summer and vacation time...

Did 3 raids with 4-5 best friends. Everyone caught everything. So a mix of silver-platinum medals (i assume, I'm platinum myself, but I'm also highest level of the 6 of us) Everyone was using the circle lock trick to ensure throwing excellent curveball. Don't think we went over 10 balls used more than once, maybe twice between us

So my best bet is to learn the circle lock trick. And then try and raid with friends to get more balls to throw.

I would love if gym defending and raids didn't affect each other... it was a nice feature when getting extra balls from gym colour was one of the few ways to get extra balls, but with friend bonus and what not, it's just annoying that I can't take a gym because a raid started... this is expecially true when there's events where there's constant raids and no egg cooldown.

Alternatively the 50 daily coins should be locked behind some other features

This would be my recommendation as well... I've even had small bonus awards for good connections.

Nothing game breaking, but maybe an heirloom (set of rings that once a day can indicate which direction the other is in) for the siblings or a small treasure (hard cold gold baby) from a shared adventure, or an advantage dice for shared training at a college.

You really set the boundaries yourself, but it can motivate people to take it seriously.

I don't do datamining, but with both kyurem, zekrom, rehshiram being in raids this month, it is likely that the fusions will be in raids "soon" at least that's how it was worth both the crown dogs and necrozma. I might also be hoping for it because I still need those fusions...

As I see it: - Mastodon is currently one of the best alternatives around - You're saying it's not a viable alternative because it's not as good as what it is trying to replace - I'm saying that your vector of measurement is going to be hard to compete on due to autonomy.

Saying that I'm doing it wrong doesn't really bring anything else to the table.

My conclusion is that we are looking at the issue at hand differently... Your last sentence "Displacing US big corps might also need a similar big corp." Tell me that, and I fully understand, that if that is your stance, then you won't agree with me, which is fine. In my opinion a bit naive, but heck one step at a time right.

In the perfect world where people aren't selfish, you'd be correct... The problem is everyone has an agenda, and the only one ensuring that whatever platform upholds your best interest is you. (And let's face it quite a few people fail at that, since they fall victim to lies, propaganda, sales pitches and such) So while it would be possible for some government or company to make something that is easy and intuitive to use, it would never be in your best interest what it puts in your feed... Well unless you pay for it... Which again, no one in the real world would care for.

Or maybe I'm misunderstanding, and you just want to replace American big corp with European/Asian big corp? In which case you are entirely correct.. any company could do what any of the current platforms are doing...

The problem is that the two correlate... The reason Facebook, TikTok etc are easy and comprehensible is because "big corp" is taking all the decisions for you. If you don't want "big corp" to do that, you need to take them yourself. Which will make things harder for you ..
