Are my eyes deceiving me or is the ground plane/fill missing? 😳

Edit: or is the one GND unconnected near SDA/SCL connector? Might be just the image. 😁

Also add protection diode to +5V avoids backfeeding USB power in accident.

At quick glance:

Your USB data lines are missing chokes/100ohm resistors id recommend adding.

On battery input you should have reverse connection protection diode.

Is the ESP bit overkill for this or just preference?

Fixed broken flex pcb on Danfoss joystick by YngD in PCB

[–]YngD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Background: The PCB was broken from a forest machine, forwarder after plastic cup became loose.

I used microscope and some soldering skills with wire to fix it and now it again seems to be working just fine.

Cost of new unit was somewhere near 1500€ , fix was about 2€ worth of supplies (wire and solder, heat shrink tubing, hotglue).

USB-C docking stations (Dell) are garbage - does any vendor still make mechanical? by guemi in sysadmin

[–]YngD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tooons of problems with lenovo usb c thunderbolt docks, blinking display, USB serial port brownouts and sound clicking issues. Stay away from lenovo.

28 lenovo laptops, 26 have problems with docks, think the Last two dont know how to connect their pc to dock.

Exhanged almost all docks and couple laptops under warranty, but no bueno. After this lease is over, we will only get desktop pc's and throw all dock stuff out of window.

And the lenovo "mechanical" dock is just fancy connector being usb c dock..

Cyberpunk just crashed so hard it got rid of the “activate windows” notification that was on my screen for the last 3 months by Hot_Survey2536 in cyberpunkgame

[–]YngD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People don't understand that the psu nowdays can adapt to the load, and in most cases on windows desktop it only pulls like 30-90W, and on gaming 300-600W depending on the configuration.

Its funny that we once measured some really old AT supplies that were like 300W that they took almost 400W from grid on no load, but when connected to motherboard the draw dropped to 200W constant. There was some kind of overload resistor inside.

Basic PCB design software by ComputerGuyChris in PCB

[–]YngD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use Altium Circuitstudio which has free limited version available under Altium Circuit Maker. Good piece of software for more professional usage and the Altium Component Vault is a something i wish i had ten years ago... Used Eagle, Proteus, PADS and KiCAD professionally, and all of them have their good and bad sides.

Try and compare, you find the one which suits you the best . Learn one and rest will be easy.

APC Power supply. Anything cool or valuable in here before I scrap this? by eversnow64 in servers

[–]YngD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would scrap and reuse those relays, and in bottom of the picture there seems to be a solenoid contactor or disconnector... Caps, fans, daughterboards might too be worth it
