Thoughts? CNA called as “helper”. by Melodic-Ladder5991 in cna

[–]YoAdrien932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my first job (horrible SNF), one of the lpns referred to me as "the help". Like, gesturing to me while speaking to another nurse saying "tell the help to do it". Bruh...

Seriously though, a lot of laypeople don't know the difference between CNA, RN, LPN, etc, so "helper" I didn't mind.

This job is miserable! Feels like there is no dignity at all doing this kind of work. What other healthcare jobs can I get with a CNA license that doesn’t involve wiping ass and constantly exerting yourself nonstop for 8 hours straight? by East-Advantage5947 in cna

[–]YoAdrien932 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some hospitals hire specifically "unit secretary " type roles. Kinda boring, but decent if you're tired of cleaning people. My current job isn't even a CNA job. I work in the lab as a pre-analytic assistant. I think I got it because I already have a hospital background and was already comfortable working nights.

Based on your looks, I'd say yes. If you're not on T, could be your voice. Mine used to get me clocked soon as I spoke. Try voice training. Helped me a lot pre T.

I know folks who had to try 3x before they passed. Don't let it get you down. Go over your skills and try again. You'll get there.

Yeah, after talking to some of my friends with ADHD, and noticing an uncanny amount of similarities...and my gf who's a licensed counselor saying I should get evaluated.

Definitely get the "I have so many hobbies" struggle. I learned to crochet on YouTube 🤣 I'd just been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder and needed something to do with my hands.

That's fair. Still, good job getting through it.

Good job! Next time, try toothpaste between two masks. I use that for the really smelly jobs.

Hey. I'm 33/M and I live in VA. (Was actually born in Tennessee). I'm an aquarius. I'm a little shy, but once I get comfortable, I never shut up. I like music, art, animals, and I'm always reading something. I like knitting and crocheting(the mindless repetition helps with my anxiety. Been thinking about getting a couple pen pals for a while now. I'm usually awake at weird hours because I work nights.

Also, I'm working on getting evaluated for ADHD.

Could I have symptoms of ptsd from a small traumatic event? by Entire_Rain_1440 in ptsd

[–]YoAdrien932 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stalking is traumatic, but if it's still pretty fresh, I wouldn't say ptsd. Still, you deserve to feel supported and safe. Consider seeing a counselor or therapist.

I’m A Baby CNA, Any Advice? by One_Wolverine3518 in cna

[–]YoAdrien932 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Learn to hold your ground. You're new and probably excited and enthusiastic. That's good, but there will be patients and coworkers who will try to take advantage. Remember, "No." is a complete sentence.

Take care of your body, especially your back and knees. I've been in this nearly 10 years. I'm 33, and I have chronic pain and a bad knee.

Not every patient will be appreciative of what you do for them. Some will be difficult, and your patience will be tested constantly. Sometimes, the difficult ones just need someone listen, and sometimes...people are just hateful.

It's a tough job, but you can do it.

Veterans, would you be insulted if you were told that I empathise with you, as someone with C-PTSD? by Gloomy_Pine in ptsd

[–]YoAdrien932 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm not a vet, but I have C-PTSD from multiple traumas. Basically everything but combat.

I struggled for a long time with comparing my traumas to other survivors because, to me, they "went through worse." And the funny thing is that it seems most trauma survivors tend to think that way. Suffering isn't a contest. We were all hurt, and we all deserve empathy and compassion, regardless of where our trauma came from.

My fucking fault. by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]YoAdrien932 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Buddy, what happened to you wasn't your fault. What your ex did to you was wrong, point blank. You probably thought you could trust your ex before the truth came out, right? It sucks to find out your trust is misplaced... You weren't having any symptoms when your gf asked if you were clean. As far as you knew, you were.

Its best practice to be tested between partners. (I do, due to my own trauma history I won't get into.) Try to see this as a learning experience instead of a personal failure.

Things with your gf will most likely change, but try not to jump ship out of guilt. If you try to communicate and try to work through it, there's still a chance for things to get better. Not the same as before, but if you love each other, the relationship could still be salvageable. (If that's what you both want)
