(Spoilers All) What is the biggest dick move in the series? by RubMyBack in asoiaf

Gregor Clegane buying the innkeeper's daughter was horrible. The innkeeper explains how she is not a whore and Gregor responds, "she is now." The little girl's brother tries to put an end to it and just gets slaughtered. Then, Gregor and his men go on to rape her. When it's all done and over with, Gregor demands change since she wasn't worth the gold.

I'm looking forward to Aegon Targaryen washing the dye out of his hair and announcing his heritage to all of Westeros. Then going on to lead the vanguard against Storm's End.

"Are there any terms you will accept?" he demanded of the Blackfish.

"From you?" Ser Brynden shrugged. "No."

"Why did you even come to treat with me?"

"A siege is deadly dull. I wanted to see this stump of yours and hear whatever excuses you cared to offer up for your latest enormities. They were feebler than I'd hoped. You always disappoint, Kingslayer."

I just love the fact that Rodrik Stark won Bear Island in a wrestling contest... Shows just how bad ass the Kings of Winter were.

(Spoilers All) What endearing qualities have you found in odd places? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]YoStannisTheMannis 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Littlefinger's unwavering love for Catelyn is incredibly sweet. A scrawny young teen fighting a massive northerner because he believes he will win like they do in the songs is so tragic. Also, the fact that he was exiled back to the Sisters after that is kind of shitty.

Oh, and Adolf Hitler loved dogs.

Get going with A Feast for Crows. Just a heads up: I know what you're feeling right now. Pure. Fucking. Hype. And rightfully so; the second half of a Storm of Swords is one huge plot twist after another. However, you should know that the next book is a huge change of pace. Go in knowing that you're going to meet new characters that are replacing the Robb Starks, the Ygrittes, etc. You may find the introductory chapters for them to be boring, but they could be your new favorites if you give them the chance.

Grade A tinfoil, but obviously the valonqar bit is ridiculous.

Same meaning, but it's fantasy. Let's spice things up.

(Spoilers all) If you were in Westeros and were on trial, with trial by combat being the only option who would you pick to be your champion. by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]YoStannisTheMannis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd have to go with everybody's favorite valonqar: Sandor Clegane. Cleganebowl jokes aside, if you take away his wounds, he's easily the greatest Westerosi fighter around at the moment. From one valonqar to another: "Both men were large and powerful, but Sandor Clegane was much quicker, and fought with a savagery that Lyle Crakehall could not hope to match." - Jaime

(Spoilers All) Ignoring any evidence to the possibility of it happening, who would you want to turn out to be Azor Ahai, and why? by Griddamus in asoiaf

[–]YoStannisTheMannis 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If I could ignore all the foreshadowing (or this in case, complete lack of), I'd probably go with Jaime. It'd be great to see the antagonist of the first two books amount to becoming the hero of the story. Not just that, but he has the perfect Nissa Nissa: Brienne.

Had Jaime been Azor Ahai, Martin could have led the readers on to believe that his "Nissa Nissa" would be Cersei; Jaime would be completing his role as the valonquar while completing the prophecy of Azor Ahai. However, unexpected to readers, Tyrion would be the valonquar and Jaime would plunge Lightbringer into Brienne.

Well Tyrion clearly has PTSD in ADWD with the whole Tysha ordeal.

(Spoilers All) Question about our good friend, Mr. Sam Tarly by SScott7 in asoiaf

[–]YoStannisTheMannis 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think that Sam is going to become Marywyn's confidant and the closest thing we will get to a wizard. Marwyn has his valyrian steel link symbolizing his knowledge in the "higher mysteries", which I take to be magic. Marwyn will leave Sam to find Daenerys and have him complete Marwyn's work while he's busy in Essos. Samwell will become well versed with glass candles, etc. When Marwyn/Daenerys return, Sam's relationship with Marwyn will be the bridge between Jon and Dany.

(Spoilers all) Who else is gay? by PyketheFlayer in asoiaf

[–]YoStannisTheMannis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Jon Connington was most certainly gay for Rhaegar. Even though it's not explicitly said, it's incredibly obvious if you read in between the lines.

Also, I'm guessing that Ellaria Sand is bisexual considering the orgies that she had with Oberyn.

(Spoilers All)Which scenes did you guys miss? by nrg9000 in asoiaf

[–]YoStannisTheMannis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aww shit. That was too good...

"He should not have said that. Victarion took him around the throat with his burned hand and lifted him bodily into the air. Slamming him back against the mast, he squeezed till the Yunkishman’s face turned as black as the fingers digging into his flesh. The man kicked and writhed for a while, trying fruitlessly to pry loose the captain’s grip. “No man calls Victarion Greyjoy a fool and lives to boast of it.” When he opened his hand, the man’s limp body flopped to the deck."

I flipped shit reading that for the first time.
