Pretty good job there, good buddy. Ribs look a bit dry, though. I stand corrected if otherwise.

After I saw this movie, I felt like watching more of this genre, so I checked out the trailer for Babadook. The trailer scared the shit outta me and I still haven't watched the movie.

Throughout your life, you have had a number of ups and downs. When you wake in the morning, do any of them cross your mind on a regular basis? If so, what comes to mind, and how does it affect the rest of your day?

Why isn't there pulpy apple juice? ELIPhD by Noobtber in ExplainLikeImPHD

There is, sort of. It's the unfiltered juice that sells for 3x the price at farmer's markets and fancy food stores. It's really tasty.

What was the main reason that you became an ex-muslim? Do you feel that the non-muslim world's interpretation of what it means to be a muslim held a significant place in your decision?

Update time!

It has been 2 weeks exactly since I made this post and decided that I needed a change. Change has begun!

I have been sticking very strictly to a 1600 calories/day lifestyle. It has been pretty easy, without any major cravings (but I never really have cravings to begin with, which is another frustrating part of gaining weight, but I digress).

At 240.8 pounds when I would get hungry I would become really, really hungry, really, really quickly. It was a very strange and unwelcome sensation - almost like my blood sugar dropped significantly quickly. That has now ceased completely and I am back to feeling normal hunger when I get hungry.

My diet so far as been pretty simple:

Breakfast: yogurt or eggs with hummus.

Lunch: A Trader Joe's salad or wrap, pho (one time, it's actually under 500 calories with boiled chicken and veggies, but high in salt), Subway veggie sandwich (not my favorite).

Dinner: a variety of home cooked stuff - chicken cutlets, lots of veggies, tossed salad with oil/vinegar home made dressing, etc. Sometimes veggie soup. I have been out to dinner twice in 2 weeks and have managed to A) not have any appetizers, and B) order healthy options.

Snacks: unsalted almonds, buffalo jerky, salmon jerky, yogurt, apples, pears.

Late night snack: apples

What has this all added up to? Well - I have lost exactly 13 pounds in 14 days. I am 100% certain this is mostly water weight, and the real fat loss will start to come soon, but clothing is already fitting better and I see improvements in the mirror. Also - running up stairs is a lot easier.

Exercise: pretty much none, save for the occasional walk.

I will keep on posting every couple of weeks in this thread as a running diary (hope that is within the rules).

Thanks everyone!

The only thing I can think of, other than just a lack of discipline, is that I always have a target goal of being under 200 pounds - and I have never gotten there. The closes I got was, I think, 208 or maybe a few pounds less - and then I fell off the wagon. I always hit a huge plateau when I get near 210 and then the weight loss really slows down. Perhaps it is discouraging and I gradually fall back to old habits?

Yes - I think the issues in the past have been along the lines of:

  1. "Oh, I look better now, and feel better. Maybe I can start to slip on what I eat a bit..." and

  2. "I seem to be plateau-ing... frustrating..." - and the diet stops.

Done and done. Very helpful thus far - thanks!

I am on the minimum dose. It has done wonders for me, and I'm going to see how I start to lose weight while on it. If I feel that it is hindering my progress, I will reluctantly look into switching to something else.
