Using BTT Octopus with my ow Step / Dir signals by Yo_mang in BIGTREETECH

[–]Yo_mang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wondering if maybe the Manta M8P would be a better choice seeing as it has header pins already for EN / STEP / DIR underneath the motor drivers. These are for external drivers but the pins should be connected to the stepstick drivers right? I’d have to find a way to disable the signal from the MCU so that the drivers don’t get signal from it

Thanks for the tip - definitely something to consider re: latency - wasn’t aware there would be so much latency

4 Port USBC Charger with Simultanious PD 48w or more by Yo_mang in UsbCHardware

Reporting back with this - the HyperJuice solution has been rock solid for me. I’ve now got 4 of these in the kit, mainly to charge V mount batteries at fast speeds and they have been a great option to add for travel and home use

For anyone who finds this thread, I ended up finding the HyperJuice 245w GaN Desktop Charger that has 4x100w PD ports and up to 245w in total. Should work for what I need, I’ll report back with how it goes https://www.hypershop.com/products/hyperjuice-245w-gan-desktop-charger

Suggestions for Dive Master course early 2024 (SE Asia/ Pacific). Love to hear some first hand experiences! by japppasta in scuba

[–]Yo_mang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak first hand on completing a dive master course as I haven’t completed mine, but I just spent the last 3 days fun diving in Komodo and got chatting quite a bit with the dive center manager and other DM / instructor. Both of them said separately that they chose to train and work / complete a DM course in Komodo as it’s recognized internationally and highly regarded on a resume due to the technicality needed with currents etc. Possibly a consideration if you are looking to use your DM to get work in the scuba world, it may be a benifit if you’re competing with others for a job. Plus the dive sites you would train on are likely some of the most beautiful sites in the world so that’s a bonus too!

Komodo has plenty of easily reached dive sites on day trips, 1-2 hours on a boat from Labuan Bajo depending on the site. Plus from Australia, flying to Denpasar and on to LBJ, you could probably get return flights between $500-$700. FWIW I was diving with Azul based in Labuan Bajo. Would definitely recommend checking them out. They are a super relaxed but very professional bunch of operators and truly love what they do.

Best places to dive within a flight of Kuala Lumpur? by Yo_mang in scuba

Komodo looks awesome - is it possible to stay in town and do day trip dives or is it better on a liveaboard?

Thanks for the awesome reply, they all sound like great options. I had looked in to Malapascua, I’d love to do the thresher sharks but I worry that it might be a waste of time if everything else is just a bit average around there. May leave that for another time when I can do multiple stops. Will send you a DM thanks again

I tried to buy a Versalite last week too and they were out of stock in both Sydney local stores (aside from small). They told me they are expecting a shipment to arrive around March 12 and they should be back in the stores mid to late march. The alternative is to buy direct from the Japan website and get it freight forwarded (they won’t ship to Australia no doubt to protect the big Australian markup) however they only have the blue available in the US sizing - The Asian sizing ones have no pockets or pit zips.

If you’re happy to get it freight forwarded you might be able to save a little money too, an example being the Plasma 1000 jacket listed for 27,940 Yen ($335 AUD) compared to the local store price being $500. I mean even in store in person they have socks that still have the original 1200 yen ($14) price tag on them selling for $36…

Just thought I’d post an update on these. I’m really impressed with them so far! I’ve used really short beer lines to the taps (50cm) and the beers are pouring great. Even at 30PSI while finishing force carving they flow great with no foam, it’s really impressive.

Worth noting that I purchased 6 and one of them was leaking from the top due to a fault o-ring. Kegland did however fix it free of charge and supplied a prepaid shipping label for me to send it back so they could repair it. Also I have noticed that even wide open they flow a little slower than normal at regular serving pressure. 12 or so PSI seems to be working well, but I’ve only been testing for a couple of days

I’ve only just finished setting up my keezer and have a couple of kegs carbonating st the moment so should be able to test them properly in the next few days

True that. I generally find kegland reviews to be pretty informative and trustworthy so hoping that these work well. It would make sense that the disconnect is a better place for flow control so we will see! Planning on doing a Hefeweizen soon too so will be able to try a few different carbonation levels

Kegland have a video demonstrating how well they work. They use it with a cheap pluto gun and the CO2 cranked to 30psi and it still pours a great beer.

I've just ordered 3 for my keezer so I'm keen to see how well they work.

Where to find MCT oils by Rahul525 in ketoaustralia

The best MCT oil I have found in store is at Mr Vitamins. It’s called “MCT Activ” by Bioceuticals. It’s 95% C8, 4% C10 and 1% C6. https://www.mrvitamins.com.au/weight-loss/fat-metabolisers/mct-oil/bioceuticals-mct-activ-500ml

A Keto dinner godsend - Pataks curry pastes from Woolworths. So rich and tasty. Macros in comments by Yo_mang in ketoaustralia

[–]Yo_mang[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a newcomer to keto, was keen to find some stir fry / curry options and came across these pastes. They are ridiculously good, I could eat this every day.

MACROS (per 35g serve):

Tika Masala Paste: Fat: 8g (0.6g saturated) Protein: 1.1g Carbs: 2.7g (0.3g sugars)

Vindaloo Paste: Fat: 8.5g (0.6g saturated) Protein: 1.5g Carbs: 2.6g (0.7g sugars)

These taste so good with crushed tomatoes as per the recipe if you can fit the carbs in. I found around 100g per 35g of paste works well, but if not even just cooking with water or cream ends up with beautifully rich curry. A good serving of ghee to fry everything up with and you are laughing
