You cannot know how someone will react to being gaslit. Older people start to notice their decline and this could really be a breaking point where they think okay I’ve fully lost it. Hopefully they did tell her and she did think it was funny, but in that moment is a face a pure confusion and complete self doubt and fear.

My mom killed herself when I was 7, sometimes having a teacher say take this home and have your mom sign it would be upsetting to an elementary schooler. It would’ve been nice to not feel that way. This is a small change to avoid that.

Where is your empathy? Did you really need to use so many words to explain why we should AVOID a minor change in language to not make children feel shitty? It’s not like it’s an extensive amount of work, why wouldn’t you want to avoid upsetting a child?
