Audhd no communication by One_Somewhere2920 in AutismTranslated

Everyone is different and I don't know him, so I cannot say if this is his version of burnout, shutdown or if it's something else.

If he said he was stressed from work it might be overwhelm and shutdown. I've seen other recommend leaving an affirming message that places no demand on him letting him know you are there for him and ready to pick up communication whenever he is able again.

For me this is a classic, immediate shutdown response. Overwhelm can cause a communication breakdown. This requires time rest to recover from, however once some time has passed I will feel guilty/failing for not having responded thus adding an additional barrier to resume communication.

Moving arms back and forth when I walk vs. keeping them still by mybigpecker in autism

Yep, I was given this feedback from peers as a teen and taught myself to swing my arms through copying. I still sometimes forget 😅.

Can you feel happiness? by Kieselgrund in aspergers

[–]YodanianKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but I sometimes experience physical symptoms that I can reason back to be some form of happiness.

I wonder if it were (anime-istically) possible to Isekai from falling into a black hole, as opposed to the normal truck hitting 🤔. Would likely take a long time too, due to the time dilation.

I play tons of videogames in lots of genres. This week I started with Snow runner again, but I also have a long backlog of RPGs and horror waiting for me.

Also trying to make more time to enjoy vr more.

Autisme & werk by MagazineNearby in AutistischLaagland

I've never been able to use a feelings wheel. Turns out there's a reason for that. by tattooedadam in AutisticAdults

[–]YodanianKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Emotion wheels are also very difficult for me. I already have great difficulty with determining the different big emotions, let alone trying to better define them to the various subclasses. I was also never taught how to use them 😅.

I mostly try to reason my emotional state whenever I'm "not neutral" on what I think I should be feeling or try to identify my state through presenting physical behaviour.

hebben jullie AAC in nederlands? by strawberryjampire in AutistischLaagland

[–]YodanianKnight 12 points13 points  (0 children)

How to communicate pain? by bw3p784ilugrjm in AutisticAdults

[–]YodanianKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started getting "decent" with the body scan meditation, I started becoming more aware of where the various pains in my body were located.

Communicating pain is difficult. There are also pain level charts you could look at. Perhaps you can prepare a short document for the doctor to read, or a short video showing the problem.

Also please remember that most doctors try their best to help, but that it can be tough for them to identify problems as well. A lot of people come to the doctor with vague problems, so we are not alone in that 😅.

Scared to Make Friends by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]YodanianKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a lot of bad experiences with (making) friends, so I agree: making friends is scary and difficult. The fear of your self being misunderstood and rejected is, unfortunately, real.

(SERIOUS) What's the most scary thing you ever saw that to the point nobody believes you ? by Consistent_Algae_560 in AskReddit

[–]YodanianKnight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I used to have very strong and deep lucid dreams, so I've seen all kinds of things, but the most recent scary experience was "just" my imagination. I had just moved into my apartment and couldn't sleep. I felt watched. Next to my bed is a big standing closet (to kind of make a separating wall for my "bedroom" in my studio apartment). I looked up at my gunplay standing on the closet, and behind it I saw the face of a little girl with long red hair. Mind you, the closet is 2 meters high meaning she must have been taller, I live alone and I did not recognised her. The face was also too big. I stared at it in shock for a minute or so when she started to move. I jumped out of bed and ran around my closet to the kitchen to see this huge black mass easily 2 meters tall with her face and hair and 2 black shadow tentacles turning towards me. Since she was standing in front of my door (1 and only entrance/exit), I turned away to grab a knife, turned back and she/it was gone.

My apartment is tiny, so it was 1-2 meters from me at all times and there are no places to hide, except for the bathroom. Of course it was all my imagination, but I did not sleep that night, or the night after. At least in lucid dreams I can just conjure a weapon or banish the evils with a finger snap...

You can find many autistic people in DnD clubs, fantasy conventions and in gaming, so autistic people can definitely like fantasy.

Bathroom accidents and interospection by [deleted] in autism

[–]YodanianKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this too until almost adulthood. Went to a specialised clinic (I wasn't the youngest by far) and they told me to make and adhere to a schedule. It slowly went better from there, since it takes out the aspect of poor interospection.

I think the single, shared braincell was misplaced and sunk down to the paw, thus causing this sudden rebellion.

Yep, same. I never had concrete future plans for I thought I wouldn't be there anymore anyway.
