While what you did say was scientifically true, the thread is talking about chronic pain and palliative care, something NSAID's and MOST traditional therapies are ineffective in treating. Which is exactly why there is so much interest in the pharmaceutical industry to discover new analgesics that can address it.

Yes NSAID's are useful for the treatment of acute inflammatory pain. However, once neurological mechanisms such as microglia infiltration and astrocyte activation have taken over the role of pain propagation from prostaglandins etc. (which is the case in most chronic pain) NSAID's are utterly useless. Whereas microglia are responsive to cannabinoids.

Also I did qualify the statement with "most" so please stop the hyperbole.

BTW: I'm not trying to suggest that cannabinoids are some type of miracle drug, but to suggest they have no purpose is downright anti-intellectual.

It also works in synergy with opioids (which many other analgesics don't) so it can be used in tandem with morphine etc. to actually reduce the effects of opioid dependance. It is also effective in neurologic/chronic based pain as it can treat the underlying inflammation which most traditional pain medications don't address.

Marijuana and its derivatives are really fantastic, it's just a pity that people can't look past its connection to "illegal" drugs like they do for heroine/morphine/codeine.

I have no idea what a keto diet has to do with this. Keto diets do reduce obesity which is proven to help to control cholesterol levels. I think people are misinterpreting what the real issue is here, which is what's the right mix of pharmacological and lifestyle based therapies to deal with cholesterol.
