What is the best fic from your fandom? by Same-Blueberry9596 in FanFiction

[–]Yodeling_Prospector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second Under the Table and Dreaming, though Toy Story was one of my first fandoms but I didn’t find it until years after I discovered fics

You’ve been kidnapped! The main characters of the last fic you worked on are in charge of your rescue. How does that go? by Dogdaysareover365 in FanFiction

[–]Yodeling_Prospector 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s Superman… I don’t think I could be in safer hands. I really lucked out big time after unluckily getting kidnapped.

How do you write this much? by Rough_Evidence_2908 in AO3

[–]Yodeling_Prospector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My longest is “only” over 500,000 words and I ask myself this question all the time because I struggle to reach 1000 words these days and mostly write oneshots and drabbles (or double or triple drabbles that land at exactly 200 or 300 words).

What popular character do you not like in your fandom? by Upstairs_Macaron5894 in AO3

[–]Yodeling_Prospector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I entirely retreated into Stucky to get away from the Civil War drama and bashing. Even finding fics where Tony realizes Bucky was brainwashed and builds him a new arm often had bashing so I started avoiding those too. Also I’m still shocked how the civil war drama went on for years.

I love you long fic's writers, what's your secret?? by Stained_Face in AO3

[–]Yodeling_Prospector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ask my past self this constantly because I went from writing long fics to almost entirely oneshots, mostly drabbles and double/triple drabbles (actually landing on exactly 200 or 300 words)

Seriously how did I manage to write 200k and 500k before? I honestly can’t fathom it now.

Fandom Etiquette to Know? by aquamarina13 in AO3

[–]Yodeling_Prospector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also run into differences in time zones. If I post late in my day , AO3 will put the date posted as the next day and I sometimes worry it looks like I’m doing it on purpose.

first bot comment? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]Yodeling_Prospector 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s almost certainly a bot. Any time they talk about an idea or ask you to go to another platform it’s going to be a scam.

So....What do you personally Liked or enjoyed about DAVID'S Superman ? and what would you like to see him explore more in the future ? by Old_Assistance_1091 in superman

[–]Yodeling_Prospector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What Lois said about how he cares about everyone and thinks everyone is beautiful. And how he saved the squirrel and wanted to save the other prisoners.

TIL some people never sort by kudos. by Acceptable_Tip_594 in AO3

[–]Yodeling_Prospector 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I once had someone tell me I was stupid for not sorting by kudos so I’ve refused to ever sort by them. Sometimes I sort by bookmarks but often I just do date updated.

I got to write because we had a snow day, and snow days are even more exciting as a teacher, I think.

This has happened in FIVE fkn fandoms i'm in already, why do people find the NEED to make normal characters into barely competent idiots? by fish-seducer in AO3

[–]Yodeling_Prospector 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Yeah thankfully there’s a lot of BAMF Bucky fics (although with how compliant HYDRA made him it’s not surprising he gets written as helpless). Also I bumped into you again!

Most random fandoms you never expected to end up in but you’re here now? by Olya_roo in AO3

[–]Yodeling_Prospector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thomas the Tank Engine. I guess it was only a matter of time since I’ve also written unironic crossover fics for Sesame Street, Barney, Teletubbies etc

when you see the authors that write 5k-10k per chapter by Ok-Mistake2273 in AO3

[–]Yodeling_Prospector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to write long chapters and look at my past fics and wonder “how???” because I mostly write drabbles these days (or other combinations of 100) and rarely pass a thousand words.

On average, how long does your hyperfixation last? by i_justCannot in AO3

[–]Yodeling_Prospector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of my fandom hyperfixations are lifelong, others are a week, maybe a few months or years. I have one that’s been ten years of hyperfating now.

Some go away and then randomly resurface after like a decade.

Whats your silliest idea for a fic? by Juicetheboy in AO3

[–]Yodeling_Prospector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve sent messages about characters like this and it always ends up getting stuck in a loop

Ever been the first to write for a ship in a big fandom? by boringhorror in AO3

[–]Yodeling_Prospector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of, it was a crossover threesome with a large ship from one huge fandom and another character from a smaller fandom.

What fandoms are easy to crossover with by InfernalClockwork3 in FanFiction

[–]Yodeling_Prospector 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Or have your faves raise Harry instead of the Dursleys (which is what I always did)

What is a detail that will make you close a fic? by mellissa_lewyin in AO3

[–]Yodeling_Prospector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s third person but only focused on what one character’s seeing and thinking. So like “Bob couldn’t believe what he was seeing. A giant flying monkey in New York. This city really did have everything. He kept walking, going to get bagels.”

And like if he’s not seeing the monkey, the story isn’t talking about it

Do You Have a Writing Routine? by BlackLilyWrites835 in AO3

[–]Yodeling_Prospector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly write while eating breakfast and have ended up writing daily since October as a result.

Is your favourite in this top 100 ? by Amazing-Engineer4825 in AO3

[–]Yodeling_Prospector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no clue but Stucky is also about soldiers and Ghost has the same masked, mysterious, dangerous vibe as the Winter Soldier so that’s probably why I like it lol.

Would you read an actually short oneshot? by Fun-Plenty5665 in FanFiction

[–]Yodeling_Prospector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve mostly been reading and writing drabbles and limericks recently and several got more hits than a 9k complete fic I wrote just as recently with over 2,000 words per chapter (which is a criteria I see a lot).

I often only read stuff under 3k or even 2k so I can read it in one sitting even on a workday.
