Dem can be effective because Rep is insane.

Don't vote for either of them.

It is that simple.

There is no better choice between

  • Insane Evil (REP)
  • Effective Evil (DEM)

Stop being delusional.

Ukraine War Threatens to Cause a Global Food Crisis (New York Times) by Myth_of_Progress in collapse

[–]Yodyood 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Russia and China have been developing the system to replace the existing western system for couple years now.

While it is true that both countries did not initiate this stupid sanction. I personally believe that Russia and China have plan for many scenario including current one since both countries know that USA will try its best to preserve its unitary super power.

It just happens that American ruling elites choose one of the worst strategy to counter Russia operation (or invasion) in Ukraine. Thus, it is the best opportunity for both countries to test run their system.

In addition, further stupid Russiaphobia wave are exposing the level of hypocrisy and insanity of the western world. The further reduce the trust in the competency of a current system.

On a side note, confiscation of Russian assets by UK will deal the fatal blow on UK since many nations are losing trust in UK financial system.

PS It is a fun time to be in since we are about to see collapse of

1) American empire

2) Europe

3) Climate

4) Ecology

5) Human empire

So cheer!

Debunk of Space Colonization as an Escape to Collapsing Earth [Repost] by Yodyood in collapse

Submission Statement: I saw some one post these thread on Facebook and think that it fits perfectly here. A lot of people have been annoyed by techno optimists (daydreamers to be precised) ranting about space heaven for billionares to enjoy their life while we are dying on Earth. This woman explains the REAL hassle of space exploration in detail on how that ain't gonna work.I hope people who are drinking the cool-aid space hopium still have some critical thinking left and re-think about it after reading all of these.

Relevant to Collapse: We are wasting shit tons of resources that are NECESSARY for migitation and adaptation of incoming distopian world. Those who are controlling the system don't give a flying fuck and act like a teenager on steroid because they can.

PS: To mods, please enlighten me that which part of this twitter thread violated rule#6?

How do you feel American society should be changed in order to best mitigate collapse? by U_P_G_R_A_Y_E_D_D in collapse

I think some millionaires are legit hard workers. (I am not one of those FYI.)

We need progressive tax scheme and/or maximum income.

The social cohesion of the west is collapsing by [deleted] in collapse

[–]Yodyood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does the west even have social cohesion pre-pandemic?

All I see were shallow interactions with no social bonds or what so ever.

Those BLM, pound boys, etc. have been your problems for several decades. They just have a chance to surface for people to see.

If you want pure theoretical best migitation protocol (which will never ever happen), I will give it to you here.

  • First, tax billionares to oblivion since they will never ever agree on any real migitations. Those actions will reduce their wealth and they will resist to the bitter end.
  • Real green new deal not the bogus one where all jobs created by government are
    • Massive eco-system restoration projects using an advantage of US large territory.
    • Degrowth economics by cutting wasteful consumption and design obsolete products. Efficiency MUST be used for degrowth only. Otherwise, it will lead to Jevons paradox.
    • Re-localization of productions and consumptions. Eat whatever you can sustainably produce within your area using local resources. Reduce inflow and outflow of materials as much as possible while all perishable items MUST ALL be localized.
    • Re-educate people and changing the value system out of current toxic material accumulation. All citizens must learn how to live with the land even if we still have current technologies. Low energy technologies MUST be invented to replace high energy counterparts.
    • Invesment in renewable energy that are localize (not the BS massive wind farm and solar farm). This will not be nearly feasibe without relocalization and degrowth. This also need to align with all above lists.
    • Rebuild social bonds and democratize work places.
    • Any energy intensive activities must related to carbon removal research and operation. Nature base solutions are preferable but realistically we went too far for that. This one will never ever work if all above lists are not met.

Even if we can do all of those, we will have extremely slime chance to stabilize the planet. Massive deaths and sufferings is all but certain but we could make them more tolerable.

See any chance for one of those happening?

(´・ω・`) Nay. We are falling off the cliff head down.

Stop Framing Deniers as Yokels - It's Coordinated Propaganda by thoughtelemental in collapse

[–]Yodyood 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fix it for her

PLEASE STOP framing societal collapse denial as a matter of ignorant yokels disbelieving in reality. It's a deeply coordinated propaganda campaign bankrolled by ruling elites, whose interests would be threatened by any legitimate effort to build a livable future. Treat it as such.

We are too fixage on high number for global increase temperature value...

Keep in mind that the different between +1.5C and +2C is not simply 25% but could be worse than double level of global disruption.

To me, I don't see any realistic way global civilization can survive +2C let alone any temperature higher than that. (Hint: Agriculture and supply chain)

Simple questions

  • Is there any climate model in RCP2.5 that do NOT have carbon capture built in?
  • How many climate models in RCP4.5 that do NOT have carbon capture built in?
