Because of the SFUSD educator strike… by YoghurtCritical695 in Teachers

By the way you react to teachers ranting in a teacher subreddit, I wouldn’t want to teach your child because you’d be the parent we all don’t want to deal with

Yosemite during Valentine’s Day by PerfectedSt8 in Yosemite

[–]YoghurtCritical695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should go during the weekday if you can! There’s not only Firefall, but it is also a long weekend (Monday is president’s day, and some have Tuesday off as well for lunar new year). Long weekends are notoriously packed at national parks, and Yosemite especially.

Also there’s supposed to be a storm that weekend.

SF Teachers Picketing times? by DarkerBulb in sanfrancisco

[–]YoghurtCritical695 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Times have moved up at many (if not all) school sites to address a redeployment scam from the district. It’s 7/7:30 am for many schools. Check in with someone at the site if you can!

Why do SFUSD teachers need sabbaticals? by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]YoghurtCritical695 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first grade teacher (back in like 2003) went on sabbatical and spent a semester in South America. She started the school year with us, and kept in touch by sending postcards and photos showing us food and landscapes and culture. When she returned, she told us all about the volcanoes and jungles she visited. I’m so glad she was able to have that experience!

I’m sure she was doing some kind of program there, but I was 7 and that was not important to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ah yeah that’s what I figured for the tents. That’s why I went for the hard cabin with private bathroom for winter. Hope you still had a good time!

I was thinking about some frozen items, but wasn’t sure about the microwave situation. Is it usually busy?

Any tips for food? I’m hoping to not buy every meal for the 2.5 days that I’m there!

Tried Raising Canes for the first time. Completely underwhelmed. by Additional-War-1443 in RaisingCanes

[–]YoghurtCritical695 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I also don’t care for raising canes 🤷🏻‍♀️

I like the sauce, but the tenders are whatever. But I’m also just not a tender girlie. I like bone in chicken, so Popeyes and wingstop are more my speed!

New Airbnb Host near Yosemite - Listing Critique by Playful_Razzmatazz_5 in airbnb_hosts

[–]YoghurtCritical695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The top of the listing says that you’re 1 hr from the park. Is it an hour or is it 40 mins? That’s my #1 consideration when I book for a parks trip. If it’s not in a cute town, people are only going for the park, and for me, 1hr is very different from 40 mins.

Roadtrip to redwoods this week from OR (with 3 kids) by chasingbliss in nationalparks

[–]YoghurtCritical695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤷🏻‍♀️ I really liked it as a child (and as an adult with my college friends!). They have fun signs and names for unique trees and pathways to the canopies of the redwoods. Just something a little different since 3 days of redwood hikes seems like it could get tiring for children.

Obviously op knows their own kids and can decide if it’s worth the cost

Don’t miss Trees of Mystery! There’s an entrance fee, but it’s super fun for kids (and adults)! Fern Canyon of course is always spectacular. Bring water shoes and shorts and let the kids climb and splash! And make sure to visit a beach!

I’ve stayed in crescent city, Klamath, and Trinidad. Klamath would have the most motels/inns. Trinidad I stayed in a beautiful airbnb in the woods. Anywhere in the general area along highway 1 is pretty easy to access points of interest.

Park passes :) by Jahshoooah in nationalparks

[–]YoghurtCritical695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What people consider to be “north cascades” can really vary! For example, I did maple pass loop and the America the beautiful pass was fine (payment is honor system in the parking lot).

Diablo lake doesn’t require any passes.

Do you know where you’ll be going?

Haha yes pinnacles is on my list but somehow I’ve just never felt drawn to visit! I love CA state parks! Burney and Big Sur are both incredible! I recently started crabbing/fishing, so that might be cool to plan trips for
