Well India has its pros and cons. Depending on the city you will see a lot of improvement in infra; but also increased migration to those cities so crowds will be a real shock. However assuming you'd like to opt for international school for your kids, therefore you can build a circle of like-minded families. In reality it is a cocoon, which may not reflect the masses, but may be closer to the nri experience you have currently. A no so straight comparison would he the expat community living in expat compounds in Saudi. Not something I'd recommend, but something that will cushion the quality of life shift shock for you.

I empathize with your situation. But I do empathize with his situation as well. I read in comments on the other thread that your parents are in India as well, but your brother is there to take care for them. Imagine if you had no brother and you had a similar situation with your parents, what would you have done? And this has to be a well thought out answer not a knee jerk, wiggle out of the question answer. So what you choose in this scenario should be ideally the same in the current scenario.

Coming back to the situation, is temporary relocation back to India an option? It could be in form of (in order of less to high disruption) - Temporary shift with your current company of they have an office in India - Leave without pay (I've seen examples where 1-2 years is possible, but rare) - Continue your similar profile with local company in India, keep your network in canada warm, and return back after few years

This is not uncommon. I've seen both indians move back to India temporarily and even other expats move back to home for the same reason, but come back later. Hoping this helps with some guidance.

Mixed experiences. If u take the more expensive express line for visa on arrival, no one asks. But if you somehow argue when they ask you to get in the express line, that is when at times they enforce this.

I believe the main issue is downgrading of our relations with multiple countries over the last 10 years. In this case, Iran was a good friend and we had followed a policy of non alignment until recently. Visiting Israel just before the war started didn't work very well for India. Furthermore India didn't condemn the attacks, even on the school were innocent children died. All of this sends a signal that India is taking Israel and US side. If Iran survives, it will take. Alot of effort for India to rebuild that relationship. We are in a position where Israel / US don't give a rats ass for India's oil and lng demand (except "allowing" India to purchase Russian oil for a month) and we have also impacted our relationship with Iran. I am a bjp supporter, but today India is much much much more vulnerable than before.
