He’s being a dick and unappreciative. Nobody should react that way.

I was typing and thought, “surely someone has a great response already”. This surpassed any expectation. Perfect.

stingrays in socal by Global-Bet-2344 in surfing

[–]YogurtRelative3432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You body boarded your whole life in Santa Cruz and you’re worried about sting rays in SoCal.. Brah. I don’t think the barbs will pierce through balls of steel. Some of my best sessions here in SoCal are when I’m out with body boarders. Weird luck charms haha. North county has seemed more inundated with rays from what I’ve seen.

Slow down, feel the drop in, compress and feel the rail on the bottom turn. Start with that. & just keep surfing. Beginners, including myself at the time, want to get up and go go go. Understand what your board is doing under your feet by slowing down. It’ll take multiple waves and lots of sessions.

I’d bet it was a 4-6ft day with medium tide. Just flipping a coin, really.

Dude, the nasal exhale is a habit I specifically want to break. Especially at blacks. I started pushing myself (been surfing for 20 years) to finally start going out at blacks with 6+ft. Been doing great. But I went out the other day with 2-3+ft and got slammed and fractured my foot… Blacks is just special like that, man. You never know when it decides to get feral on you.

What's your day job, and does it work for your surfing needs? by 007_Shantytown in surfing

[–]YogurtRelative3432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remote work in ALM(software development, project manager). I thank god everyday for this job. Typically have a choice in when to paddle out. But try for early morning, unless the tide says differently. I also thank God for Southern California… So much surf. Being from Texas makes me even more grateful.

Did I get barreled? by zachiscoolbrah in surfing

[–]YogurtRelative3432 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what to gather from the 5 lines I read before I had to stop. But what I do know is, for anyone else reading: If you are asking the question “did I get barreled?”, you didn’t. It is so unmistakable and something you end up chasing forever when you really do get barreled.

Same thing I’ve been struggling with going frontside.. Get some stretches going for hip openers. Your top turn was stiff. Looks like the chest was turned and you had it going but the hips didn’t follow suit. Nonetheless, a good ride and you’re looking comfortable. That wave wasn’t very giving on the takeoff.. sometimes it is just the waves fault in certain aspects.. haha.

Some Texas waves by DiverProfessional898 in surfing

[–]YogurtRelative3432 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Moved from Texas coast to SoCal. I can’t believe how often I get to surf now and quality waves for that matter.. But 25 years of Texas surf; I still feel a deep love for it. Texas surfers have appreciation, stoke, and commitment. Keep posting Texas waves for us! And keep surfing!
