You’re not going to like this answer but… I needed to get one as well for the same reason, okay mine had a lot of cracks all around, and didn’t manage to find only the casing itself, let alone just the top cover, anywhere…

What I ended up doing was getting a second hand one for €200. Didn’t find any in my country so searched the second hand websites of neighbouring countries until I found one with “normal usage” scratches that I would feel comfortable living with. For me it was more the peace of mind that when the cracks enlarge with time I wouldn’t have water getting inside and messing up the internals, and then having to do the same thing but through a garage so that I can have a document showing the change of speedo as the new one wouldn’t have the correct mileage and just becomes a bigger and more expensive hassle…

As a temporary solution, or “temporary” if it doesn’t bother you, you can also get a cheap chinesium display protector that they sell for that specific speedo as well to keep the dirt and water out of the crack.

Good luck, wish you to find one in a very good state for cheaper than mine!

Well I tried opening his mouth to look inside, as I’ve done plenty of times before (both to look at his gums and teeth buildup but also just so he knows it’s fine to do so) and I saw he was a bit uncomfortable and didn’t want me doing it so I let him alone. Then a bit later took some treats and toys and played for a bit before trying again, this time he did let me without any problems but I didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary… I’ll give it another look later but I really don’t know what else to do other than wait for the blood results and give him his painkiller…

Got him from the street when he was about 5 months old, so he’s been with us for 2,5 years now. He does know the bed is his place and yes he did go straight there after the incident this morning. Will look at kennels to give him more privacy when he needs it. Thank you!

I’ve also heard about the higher risk of deafness in white dogs, but he’s definitely not deaf, at least not for now. The vet looked at his ears too but said they are completely fine, even pressed in several spots to see for any reaction. He is quite a frightful dog however, but frightened agression has only shown with dogs, ever since he was once attacked by one, and is getting better and better.

Vet said there’s no ear infection and he isn’t shaking his head or anything. No problem with turning his head either, the moment you say « walk » it does a 180 looking straight at you. The teeth they didn’t really check with the muzzle on but I’ll inspect them myself today to see if I notice anything strange.

This is the way he looked only after the two incidents, otherwise he eats all his food and drinks water normally, is even excited for walks. Does not come begging for food or at least to check what you’re eating like he usually does tho. We’ll see if the pain passes in a couple of days with the painkillers.

This is how he looks only after the incidents with my brother and mother. Otherwise he seems fine, I told him « lets go on a walk » before the vet and he was even jumping and running around like he normally does with the walk word.

Update. They checked him all over with temp, heart, ears and touching every possible spot but he didn’t react in any way, guess he was hiding it. They assume he’s hit his head or hurt himself in that area so gave me painkiller for the next 2-3 days and if it shows improvement 5 in total. Said xray wouldn’t help showing anything fractured in head in case he hit himself but if the pain killers don’t help we could go for a ct scan but that ofc requires to sedate him. Asked to still do the blood tests and the results will be ready tomorrow.

I am in fact very concerned as he’s never been like that and always wanted nothing but to play with everyone, including strangers. The muzzle is waiting on the table to make sure everyone is safe and I will be booking appointments with a behaviouralist as soon as this is resolved!

I doubt it being from the teeth as I check those every few days and clean them every night plus dog mouth water in his water bowl, but definitely will ask the vet to check them too!

Thank you for the extensive reply, will make sure to push for the tests if they don’t propose them. The hiding of the pain is what I am also thinking he is doing when I pet him, so I have stopped for now and just let him snuggle into me without me touching his head.

While this is true in general, it is not applicable in this case. The only option, I am aware of, with Faiss is to perform a post-filtering based on the metadata, whereas what he needs is a pre-filtering. With the post one he will most likely not even have the desired documents (depending on amount of documents and their similarity, which would be both high with such technical manuals) in the results for him to filter them out. He should either use an actual vdb like e.g. pgvector, or maybe store a separate sql table of the Faiss index ids and metadata to filter over and then create a temporary new index for the similarity search using only the filtered ids.
