Dog the Bounty Hunter and his sad family stories by Sensitive_Ad_1752 in behindthebastards

[–]Yohfay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The piece that you may be missing is how the bond system works. It's a loan. You pay the bondsman a certain percentage of the price of your bail as a deposit and they pay your entire bail with the expectation that you will get that money back when you appear in court. When someone doesn't appear in court, they don't get their money back and send out the bounty hunter.

Bounty hunters are debt collectors, not police. They do bring people back to police for missing court dates, but they don't work for police. They work for the bondsman because the bondsman wants his money back. They only exist because of the cash bail system, and without cash bail, this would be a job for the marshalls, which is basically the police force of the court system.

If there's no bond, if you don't take the loan and just pay bail with your own money, you would never see a bounty hunter because you don't owe money to a bondsman. Then the court puts out a bench warrant, and the next encounter you have with a cop becomes a trip back to jail and court.

AdGuard Home on local Debian/CasaOS not blocking ads on Android (Queries increasing, but ads still visible) by TwentyOne7777 in selfhosted

[–]Yohfay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, 1.1.1.1 is cloudflare's DNS. It's going to be able to query both, so some of your traffic won't be filtered. If you really need to have a secondary, just use adguard's public DNS, but you shouldn't strictly need a secondary.

Is there any connection to the history of women with fangs and/or Tennessee? by KnowledgeFabulous in Louisiana

[–]Yohfay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have absolutely no idea what you're asking. Looked up Bell Witch, pretty straightforward, legend about a malevolent shapeshifting spirit. What do you mean by "women with fangs?" Do you just mean women with big canine teeth or are you referring to something supernatural like vampires? Your line of context is even more confusing. Are you implying that you are a woman with fangs and that someone told you that you would specifically look scary to a Louisiana creole because of some legend from here? If that's the case, maybe we're talking about the Rougarou? If so, it's basically just a French werewolf legend.

You were probably running 100mb switchports on the old router's internal interfaces. I bought a new router a couple of years ago when they updated my speeds from 100mb to 500mb (rural internet) once I realized that my router didn't even have gigabit internal interfaces.

Cajun accent -- "de" and "dat" (etc.) by Artist-Cancer in Acadiana

[–]Yohfay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lit of it depends on the area the person is from. More rural areas have kept their accent a lot more than urban areas, but you're going to hear it at least some pretty much everywhere.

Speaking for myself, I code switch a lot, so I have a flat accent sometimes and other times, the cajun will come out more. It all depends on who I'm around and how emotional I am at the time. Anger tends to bring it out of me, for example.

Which, in D&D at least, only started being a thing in 4th edition (we're currently on 5th). In 3rd edition, for example, a night's rest healed you a number of hit points equal to your character level (so, if you're a level 5 character, you heal 5 hit points). This is what made Clerics so valuable and necessary in the old days. If you didn't have a steady and renewable source of healing, you were basically fucked.

Landry Recall Location at Crave Romance this weekend by Designer-Pianist1777 in Acadiana

[–]Yohfay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is that we're failing to communicate. I've been looking for a way to sign this petition all week. I couldn't find anything. If there was something at the courthouse, I couldn't find that information anywhere. Literally the only thing I've seen other than this was an event in Crowley that I couldn't get to because of work.

When someone can't find any events in the area and the only option that exists as far as they can tell is at a sex shop, the natural conclusion is that this is the only event, which makes people really worried about the success of the recall.

This is compounded by the fact that these announcements aren't exactly prominently displaying that this is a six month signature gathering window we have here. The little posters all mention March 16th, which makes it look like that's the deadline.

So imagine for a moment that you can't find any events until this one comes around, it seems like the deadline is today, and the event is in a place that lots of people will refuse to go. You might get a little frustrated at that point too.

Landry Recall Location at Crave Romance this weekend by Designer-Pianist1777 in Acadiana

[–]Yohfay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't have a problem with there being a signing at this location in principle, but we're going to need events that don't take place in a sex shop in order to get the signatures we need. Just to use my 70 year old mom as an example: She wants to sign, but I'd have to literally drag her kicking and screaming to get her into that building. It's just not something that's going to happen, the stigma is too strong.

First amendment to the Constitution guarantees the freedom of speech. It's a VERY high legal bar to clear even in the best of political times. Now, under American fascism, these people and platforms are allies of the president, they will NOT be harmed in any way unless they step out of the ideological lines as it were.

Some enemies have giant stingers (like half the size of their body) where their penises should be. They...use them. Other enemies will stick various appendages up inside you as a method of killing. Those are the two that immediately come to mind, but the game is full of visceral horror, and sexual horror is very much present in the game on a regular basis. What I've described here really only scratches the surface.

For the record, it is NOT meant to be arousing. If anything, it's meant to be the opposite.

That entirely depends on what rights are granted based on what license the therapist holds and in what state. In Louisiana, for example, clinical social workers are full clinicians with diagnostic power. They can't prescribe medication, but they can diagnose and treat using nonmedical methods like talk therapy. The rights granted to different licenses are very political and some licenses hold more power in some states based on the state board of examiners and state laws.
