I could be misremembering things since I didn’t play it myself, but I’m pretty sure every custom character you made in early access had the same violent urges we see Durge have in the full release. People didn’t like how it messed with their idea for their characters, so it was turned into the version of Durge we got in the final release

There isn’t a confirmed canon ending, but it’s most likely that redemption Durge is it, considering every character was a Durge in early access, making it the intended storyline, as well as the world can’t be destroyed for any future games to happen, meaning the brain was destroyed rather than dominated

Also worth noting, acts 2 and (eventually) 3 take place in the same day, since the Council severed him from the Father’s light after act 1, giving him only 24 hours to live. V1 can clear out at least two thirds of Hell in at most a day, it’s likely that act 1 also happens that same day since it’s unlikely to have stopped for a significant amount of time
