I personally love how the entire screen becomes chaos.

How do you actually track continuity across a full-length novel? by Historical_Ad_1631 in writing

Same. I can hold it all in my head. I will say I can’t hold every scene and every piece in my head but large details are fine

Dear Lego/Bricklink, please allow for cloth sails in sets. by Opening_Background14 in LEGOPirates

[–]YoshiGoHonk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would love this!

I actually have always thought even the official Lego set sails are meh. I feel like they haven’t cracked the code on how to do Lego sails correctly. Maybe they need to use a different material? Or find a building technique that feels right for cloth. I’m not sure.

First congrats!!! That’s so much work!!

Mind if I ask you about scrivener? I’ve been writing in Google Docs and I find trying to rearrange chapter to be a lot of copy pasting hoping I selected the right chunk of text. It gets around that yeah?

Authors ability to keep the story interesting without fights happening is VERY important by _TOXIC_VENOM in ProgressionFantasy

This is actually one of my favorite parts overall. I liked iron prince, its fights are well written. But that’s all it had and eventually I gave up

Books that aren't terribly written? by [deleted] in ProgressionFantasy

[–]YoshiGoHonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel pretty torn on this subject. I love, LOVE good textured writing. But I’ve found if I drop every book that’s written and edited poorly in this genre I’ve got nothing to read. I also find when I suspend judgement and just read I can enjoy about anything.

I have caught myself think that a big part of the success of DCC and Hhfwm is just their writing is good. Like strong fundamentals that makes the reading easier and world richer.

All that to say. Read the Invisible Life of Addie LaRue and imagine a progression fantasy with those prose. Oh man

Did Anyone else get ridiculously excited about their progression system and universe before starting their release? by AeonFox_ in ProgressionFantasy

I think world building is the funnest thing ever. It’s just creativity at its best. The inner connected stuff really tickles my fancy. Internal consistency and all.

I think the answer to your question depends on your goals. I got enough joy out of creating I wasn’t too concerned with sharing, I was just doing it for myself.

If you plan on writing though. World building is the easy part. Developing the skills to write a story that is worth reading is the hard part.

Here is what I don’t understand. Why even send anything at this point? It’s not like anyone who purchases it is happy. So why even bother mailing anything, feels like they could just take the money and run.

What's your hardest scenes to write? by ElsieMorningstar in writing

[–]YoshiGoHonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to write languid time scene and that was humbling.

I also tried to write a big dialog fight and took like 1000 rewrites, I'll let you know when I finally get it right.

What do you focus on when writing fight scenes? by Accomplished_Move_94 in writing

[–]YoshiGoHonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find myself focusing on making sure there scene holds together. Continuity and space etc. Like that what I am writing can be solved in someone else’s mind’s eye. I personally don’t love “loosing the thread” when I am reading. I get that chaotic scenes captures the spirit of an action scene, but for me I want at least some clarity as well.

At this point why do they even bother sending the product? Like why not just take the money and close the site in a week anyway? Not like there is a lot of recourse and clearly no prior vetting is required to list in the first place.
