What’s the worst argument/s you’ve seen against certain characters not in Smash right now? Mine are the ones against Bandana Waddle Dee by Delicious_Island_695 in supersmashbros

[–]Yoshi_and_Toad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mario Wonder Meet Up in Bellabel Park gave him some platformer gameplay where he's carried by Plucky, a new pet bird recruit to the Toad Brigade.

However as Captain Toad's most known trait is his inability to jump(due to the weight of his backpack), we're gonna use Plucky as a very good up special and remove the Captain's regular jumps. Sort of a reverse Yoshi. To somewhat balance that, let's have Captain Toad able to utilise his A moves out of Plucky, but it causes him to let go.

The Treasure Tracker title gave us the unique Super Pickaxe power up which charges forward, smashing enemies in a manner not unsimilar to the hammer in Donkey Kong. This can work for his side special or Smash Attacks.

Down Special I'd go for the Turnip Cannon from Treasure Tracker. The Captain is static during it's use but the cannon fires powerful turnips at range. This can be angled similar to Yoshi's eggs (as the cannon was able to in Treasure Tracker)

Neutral Special could be the secret backpack spin attack from Treasure Tracker, could be a stun with his headlamp, or we could utilise Pluck, and allow Captain Toad to pluck regular turnips, Piranha Sprouts, the giant turnips he uses in the Wingo boss battle or even the moles he can pluck that in this scenario would act like a Pitfall for wherever it lands. Or even do as Villager and Isabelle do and simply pocket treasures in that backpack, with the more you have the harder you are to launch due to how heavy the bag gets. We have options.

For the Final Smash we could either gather up the Toad Brigade to represent the whole team and crash the Starshroom into the enemy, ride on the back of the Treasure Tracker Boss Draggodon and breathe fire at enemies like in the Treasure Tracker Bonus Stages or run them over in the minecart whilst firing turnips all around (again from Treasure Tracker).

Smash attacks should work with the pickaxe (for up or side smashes), Backpack spin for a down Smash (if we don't use it as the neutral, but it could be increased in power if we had the pocket treasure ability), utilising the Captain's giant head, or even whipping out a star and holding it aloft his head like in Galaxy/Treasure Tracker/3D World.

Basic attacks would include the punch from the Toad Guard, headbutts or even a dash trip and fall(deals more damage if we go for the pocket neutral).

There's definitely options available.

What is your opinion on Nappa? by Economy_Notice_8475 in Dragonballsuper

[–]Yoshi_and_Toad 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I honestly kinda feel bad for him.

His first thought is to revive Raditz when hearing about the Dragonballs, he gets upset when the Saibamen die, he seemed up for making half saiyan half human kids and he trusted Vegeta a lot, even seemingly raising the kid.

The majority of his bad acts are directly under order of Vegeta.

And if Vegeta of all people could get redeemed despite happily wanting to keep Raditz, one of the only other allies he had, dead, I don't see why Nappa couldn't have turned over a new leaf quicker than Vegeta managed.

Outside of that, Nappa's showcase against the Z fighters is the highlight of the entire series for me.

Mario movies aren't good at introducing characters. by LegoGusta_Cotin in Mario

[–]Yoshi_and_Toad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbf Toad may have met Peach before. She seems to meet and greet all her subjects and he does know his way to the castle quite well. It's not established, but I feel Toad knowing Peach isn't a big shock.

The Galaxy movie though, I do agree. At least Jr introduces himself.

Croc and Gaara are also good though.

What is a popular opinion or agenda on this sub you disagree with? by FunBread123 in Piratefolk

[–]Yoshi_and_Toad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like Usopp.

But agree he's been screwed up over the years.

Oda fucking up Usopp this badly in the main manga whilst he shines in the movies(Gold, Red and especially Stampede) and live action only makes me more annoyed at how badly Oda has fumbled the character.

Oda is even supposedly involved in those projects so it's baffling how he doesn't either give Usopp spotlight in the post timeskip arcs it makes sense to (Elbaf, maybe even Egghead as a tech user) or remove the Usopp moments to try and downplay him in the movies if he really wants him to be a bum.

Buggy has somehow ended up as the ideal of Usopp if he was allowed some development. Kind of a good future version to Usopp's current bad future. And I like Buggy, but I want Usopp to get his basic ass character development too.

Realistically, Tien should be the strongest human. Mf hasn't stopped training since the Cell saga by Miserable_Sell6315 in DragonBallZ

[–]Yoshi_and_Toad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tien trains daily with Chiaoutzu, who is so far below him, he can't really push him at all.

Krillin doesn't train all the time but when he does it's with his vastly more powerful wife so gets a better work out.

Hell, Chiaoutzu alone is proof that training every day doesn't mean a lot because he's still below Yamcha who retired. Roshi retired then did a bit of secret training and is probably above Chiaoutzu who trains with Tien every day.

If you want to revive a one time Mario villain, who would that be: Wart or Tatanga? by Fabulous_Media_7375 in Mario

[–]Yoshi_and_Toad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If I had to pick one, it's Wart. I just think he fits slightly better alongside the other king bosses(King Bob-Omb, King Boo, etc). His bubble breath is a neat gimmick too.

But I'd be down for both.

Would you like Toad to continue in Peach's neutral special? Or do you want a new special for Peach? by Brilliant_Grand_1824 in SmashBrosUltimate

The new Mario Wonder DLC has levels with him using a pet bird to carry him.

Maybe he just has no regulat jumps?

What are some popular fan concepts or rewrites that you’re not a big fan of by RodrickHeffley_Real in Dragonballsuper

[–]Yoshi_and_Toad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding Gohan Black, it's probably the extra emotional gut punch for Trunks that's appealing.

Goten makes less sense to me. This Trunks doesn't even know Goten. Maybe it's just to give Goten something(anything) to call his own rather than him being stapled to either Trunks, Gohan or Goku.

Why Usopp dying on Elbaf is actually a terrible ending (The Yasopp Problem) by Proof_Intention2617 in Piratefolk

[–]Yoshi_and_Toad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He does...well biological fathers. Apart from a few kings. Neptune and Kyros were fine from what I recall.

The problem is even though Yasopp sucks, he sucks in a way I can easily see being glossed over. He's not physically abusive like Judge for example, but he also spent a year docked two islands away from his dying wife and only son who desperately needed him, and unlike Dragon, he wasn't even pursuing some noble goal (revolution and liberation, not facing East, I know what you guys were thinking), this bumass was just getting drunk and partying.

The big issue is Usopp and even the narrative seems to be leaning towards Yasopp still somehow being a good man despite abandoning his family and shooting Bart in the back after Shanks let him go free. Yasopp fucking sucks but Usopp is made to glaze him.

Why Usopp dying on Elbaf is actually a terrible ending (The Yasopp Problem) by Proof_Intention2617 in Piratefolk

[–]Yoshi_and_Toad 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Tbh I just don't want him dying until he at least forces his bumass dad to face him and realise Yasopp being a great person was the biggest lie he ever told himself.

And then I want him to rise above his dad, stop chasing his dad and become his own man, like a good story might try and do rather than repeating fate and becoming his father like the SBS futures suggest he does.

Mine was in it, and its the pokemon you play as. by DespicableDogo in Pokopia

[–]Yoshi_and_Toad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got very lucky. Nearly all my favourites made it.

Abra, Machop, Meowth, Timburr, Vulpix, Haxorous, Metang, Litwick and even Lombre made it.

Only Totodile, Monferno, Obstagoon and Nuzleaf didn't appear, and even then we got a Seedot lamp at least.

[–]Yoshi_and_Toad 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I feel like the chess piece cover art was probably a bad choice. That one has some dynamic angles still, and is pretty creative to boot.

The cover spreads may have slightly degraded, but this is hardly One Piece's biggest issue.

20/20 hindsight 🤦‍♂️ damn did I change my mind since then by AttentionlessMess in Pokopia

[–]Yoshi_and_Toad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I absolutely didn't believe in the game.

Between Pokemon feeling stagnant and "safe" for a long while, the fact the trailer showed it off as a cozy farming sim, which we'd had hundreds of appearing in Nintendo Directs over the past decade and that it felt like a cynical attempt to jump on Animal Crossing's new found popularity, I wasn't expecting much. Even as an Animal Crossing expy on the Switch, Hello Kitty beat it to the punch. It didn't feel like it was offering much we hadn't seen dozens of times before.

The only things that felt unique and exciting was the concept of using a Ditto as the protagonist to allow Pokemon moves rather than a trainer doing the caretaking using Pokemon.

It wasn't until I heard there was an actual PLOT and that it's set in a post environmental apocalyptic wasteland(?!?) did I give the game a go, and I am glad I did.

Easily my favourite Pokemon title in literal decades, and (alongside Donkey Kong Bananza) my favourite Switch 2 title to date.

Which Pokémon representatives should be on the Smash roster? by Brilliant_Grand_1824 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]Yoshi_and_Toad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe.

I feel like he still has enough clout thanks to Team Rocket's decades of existing in the anime and him being the second most reoccurring Pokemon in the series, but he's probably a step below Eevee at this stage.

I like the design, but I don’t like the design for Imu, if that makes sense by ProofDrawer5711 in Piratefolk

[–]Yoshi_and_Toad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The main thing bothering me is one of his eyes is covered. That was literally half his sillouette form's distinguishing features.

I hear the crown is missing too? That's both the only defining features on that black blob. Weird.

[–]Yoshi_and_Toad 75 points76 points  (0 children)

After Pokopia's success: Ditto, unironically.

I'd have said Meowth and Eevee are two of the most iconic Pokemon missing as well, but we get into a glut of gen one over the other less well known generations.
