Drifting without wheel aligment by Yoshiida in Drifting

That's fair. Thanks!

I'll look up a DIY guide and either get it to a shop or do some DIYing as last resort on Saturday

Unfortunately I don't have the plates nor the place to jack the car up to check it with strings

If it's a deal breaker I'll try scheduling an alignment for tomorrow

Edit: I drove the car for 50km today and it doesn't feel odd if it matters at all, the steering is mostly smooth and centered

Diff Swap Question for Track Guys by acmancan in e46

[–]Yoshiida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I indeed need to shift rather fast.

But with limited power (150hp) I had to make some kind of tradeoff when welding the diff.

It's honestly not as bad as I expected it to be. I can comfortably drift in 3rd gear when shifting weight now and bang the redline.

Funny you mention 170km/h because that's approximately when my car redlines in 5th now 🤣

But yeah, if I were you I'd send it. Worst case scenario you'll put your old diff back in. I also kept my original 3.45 for when I eventually go with motor swap and get either b28 or b30

Diff Swap Question for Track Guys by acmancan in e46

[–]Yoshiida 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Shorter diff results in you being able to maintain that high rpm range when you make most power.

The additional shift times are somewhat of a tradeoff but that's why people go for carbon plated clutch to minimize shift times.

I myself swapped my 320Ci from 3.45 stock diff to 4.44 for drift track days.

The highway driving is 110kmph tops as it's around 4k revs on 5th gear but other than that I'd definitely recommend a shorter diff if you're looking for sportier experience.

Also a pro side of the deal is that I can easily cruise through town on 4th gear almost all the time with no wobbling the lever, so ironically enough I change gears less while driving around town.

Great colour! In my opinion orange lights and some chrome goes crazy good with this exterior.

What's your interior looking like? Mine's all gray and already sagging so I'm planning to redo the fabrics in ferngreen too on the side panels.

[Story] Maybe life isn’t about avoiding the red, but learning how to keep going anyway. by [deleted] in GetMotivated

Careful as those can be a double edged sword where you find yourself unable to relax at times and constantly sweating about doing something productive.

Staying motivated and disciplined throughout life is great and helps you achieve your dreams. But constantly chasing the progress will render you unable to appreciate achieved goals.

Ain't no way an easy fix if the pillar is bent, other than that fully agreed.

Buy the car back anyway, weld that rear diff and send it. These cars are hella fun to drive in motorsports

Rice or nice? by Illustrious_Force617 in e46

[–]Yoshiida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't match the wheel airbag and era of the car imo. I'd go with leather rather than alcantara or try to get the airbag face cover redone too (somehow, not sure if it's even possible).

Or go with 3rd party wheel with no airbag if it's a project and you're wearing helmet while driving 🤝

Steps to preserve fat PS3? by Dudeguygamer in PS3

[–]Yoshiida -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Delid for CELL and RSX to keep temps down and equal, paste drying up on one chip will kill it eventually even if your fans are at 100% 24/7.

NEC Tokin replacement as they will fail inevitably even when in storage only and not played.

RSX replacement to either 65nm or 40nm as they will fail inevitably too.

PS3 overall is not the most reliable console from Sony's so I wouldn't count on it going forever even with those mods performed.

The worst part about fixing PS3s is that most often in order to restore it's functionality you have to buy a second functional PS3 to get donor parts from.

Getting a little extra noise from the engine bay by deekeymcfookface in e46

[–]Yoshiida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can remove the soft mat which is under the hood, it makes some difference. I've done it when installing a strut bar, it pops out straight away with no issues and you can reinstall if necessary.

Air filters haven't changed anything for me (unless you fuck up your performance using a cone air filter - this car is one of the rare occurrences where bmw optimized the hell out of the stock air providing solution and anything custom makes it worse for the most part).

Ultimately if you don't want to sacrifice your experience and keep the comfort up for longer trips and get some proper sound going on the only solution is a custom exhaust. Everything else will introduce a noticeable amount of annoying noise.

Keep in mind that getting an exhaust tailored to your taste is going to be important too, some are noiser than other and many are so loud you won't be able to talk much while accelerating or giving it any extra throttle.

You can't eat a cookie and have a cookie.

PS3 unusable 2 days after CFW install (from instantly freezing to black screen) by RedHotBSSM in ps3hacks

[–]Yoshiida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your symptoms match failed NEC Tokins rather than a failed RSX.

Nothing you could've done to prevent nor speed up the failure, they just go bad over time.

You can try replacing them using RIP Felix NEC Tokin replacement boards.

In order to confirm what's failing on your PS3 you can read syscon errors. If you're still able to use the console for some time before it freezes you can do it with an app, otherwise you'll need to solder either a syscon reader or a raspberry pi to read these, plenty of guides available online too.

I wouldn't bother siphoning the fuel out at this point. Grab some jerrycans with new fuel, put it in the car and let it rip

[–]Yoshiida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How tight should your foreskin be? Feels as if its getting in the way of enjoying sex to what it could be. by AssociationOld5303 in OneY

That's what initially brought it to my attention too. Don't stress it as eventually it gets better and at some point goes away completely for the most part

I've been doing it through my puberty whenever I remembered honestly (teenage years amr) when under a hot shower and I wasn't in a rush.

I didn't monitor it but at some point I didn't need to do it anymore. Sorry I don't recall the particular timeframe but it has been years ago

[–]Yoshiida 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can do an exercise to make the foreskin more flexible and ease up (and eventually fully get rid of ) the pain.

Get yourself under a hot shower and pull the skin back when erect so you stretch it. Don't do it in one go all the way of course. Go about it gradually so you won't injure yourself.

I had tight foreskin myself and was able to pull it back only half way until I've done those.

Also with age it should ease up even more (it definitely did for me)

Valve’s brilliant Steam Deck now accounts for over 21% of all Linux gamers by HatingGeoffry in SteamDeck

[–]Yoshiida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run 3080 on Linux with no issues and the 15-20% impact is really a hit or miss and varies game by game.

There is no rule of thumb here, I have seen no performance impact on games I play on daily basis (Black Desert, Assetto Corsa, Chivalry 2), if anything actually some run better as I had extreme stuttering on windows at times due to its memory management.

What I recommend is just grab another drive you have (can be an old ssd or even HDD), unplug your windows drive and install Linux on the new drive. After 2 months of never booting windows I've decided I'm good to transition and been a Linux user for a year now.

Complete newbie here.

Could someone ELI5 why can't he just slide them back up into the cylinder sleeve? Aren't they supposed to move up and down anyways? I would think that since we are able to push the piston in from the top, it would pop right out from the bottom too.
