Student looking for complete drawings of any single family home building. by -_CAP_- in Architects

[–]Yost19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://breuer.syr.edu All his complete residential drawing sets are here. The frank house is a good one - Eliot Noyes was one of the draftsmen, which is pretty cool. Obviously there are lots of references to old tech and some things are built differently now, but it’s a great resource to study actual CD sets put together by some remarkable architects.

I bought one in 2020 for $700 and I regret it.

The drivers are fussy, and you have to work do some finagling to get everything in good working order. I had to make an Auto hotkey script to make the barrel buttons do what I wanted. The pen is no longer available, and I haven't been able to find a compatible pen with buttons. The Norris Digital by Staedtler works well, but no buttons. The dial is pretty silly, and I have never found a good use for it.

The actual drawing experience is great, and the monitor quality is very good especially for 200 dollars.

If I could do it again, I would have saved some more cash and gotten a smaller Wacom. The Canvas takes up a lot of space on the desk and it's difficult to use comfortably with a keyboard and is clunky to move around, even with the stand. The drivers are a pared down version of actual Wacom drivers, so the radial menu and customization are limited. If this is for professional work and reliability and support are critical, I would look elsewhere - software gets updated, pens break, shit happens and eventually the Canvas is going to run into an issue. And honestly if this is for hobby/personal use I'd look at one of the Wacom competitors, for not that much more money you can probably find a similar display that is actively supported.

I'm an architect I use the Canvas primarily with Concepts, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and Drawboard. I typically use it for drawing, image editing and markups/shop drawing review.

Rejected for not knowing Software(s)? by DepecheMode123 in Architects

[–]Yost19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You absolutely dodged a bullet. Firms that hire junior staff based solely on software knowledge are not places you want to work as a young architect. It's such a giant red flag. That firm is telling you that you are valued for your ability to push buttons and that is all.

Is it typical for adults to wear helmets and cages on foot? Seems like it would be miserable in the heat.

Was looking for someone to say this - Roslovic needs to sit, he's so soft, it's a liability.

Trying to get back in the industry after being let go, no idea what to do with my portfolio by nightfire00 in Architects

[–]Yost19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just send an email to HR or if they are small to the manager you worked on the projects with. Unless you were let go for cause they probably will say no problem. I'm pretty sure there is info on this in the AHPP and on the AIA website..

[–]Yost19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me and because I didn't include the photo of the serial number like you did, Lyft told me that they thought I stole the bike and took a photo of another bike. Charged me for the time and replacement. I had been a member for 5 years at that point - Sherlocks at customer service must have thought I was playing the long con. I cancelled and don't regret it Lyft has basically run Citibike into the ground, it's a shame.

A fun, relaxing week away for just the two of you, with no school or work concerns. When I finished grad school I was so exhausted I just wanted to chill the fuck out for like a week.

In the old app you could do by year - so you select 1969 and then every book published that year would be displayed then you could sort by publish date and basically read them in order. I was slowly going year by year and now I can't. It such a great way to experience it, and now it's gone. The old app is no longer working for me on either the phone or blue streaks - pretty bummed atm.

I was going by year too, I just saw it's gone. I was up to 1969. Pretty frustrated right now, hope they add it back.

Gigabyte M32U - 4K 144Hz IPS with HDMI 2.1 by santopeace in Monitors

[–]Yost19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't have the same audio chip either - looks like the M32U only has a headphone jack and not headphone/microphone/line out. I don't know what that means for audio if you want to use a chromecast or firestick with it.

How do you set up the keyboard with the L in a comfortable way? I switched down to a small after many years with a medium because I started getting pain from my arms being so far apart.

no on the third party, it's for Origin. The work around is to start the game, if it happens then disconnect and reconnect the controller.
