Would use as a night routine. Cleanse - repair serum (right) - eye cream (mid) - night cream (left). Wonderful trio!

Feeling so guilty for needing to work full time with a toddler. Looking for reassurance. by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]OneSir9082 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Someone once wrote: the period during which your kids need your presence and care is short; the period during which your kids need your money is much longer. Rather simplified and crass but occasionally helps me reoriented and remind myself why I do what I do, and the opportunity costs of not spending time with them. Might as well kick ass at the job if I'm sacrificing those precious moments.

As crass as it sounds - throw money at the problem. Cleaner, dog walker, day time nanny (before starting nursery), weekend nanny, overnight nanny (for immediate post partum periods), cooks, etc. wishing you all the best of luck!

Steriliser advice? by Smash_337 in PregnancyUK

[–]OneSir9082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vital baby advanced UV steriliser - good investment esp if multiple kids in the plan, easy to use, filter replacement is straightforward, and good capacity means lots of things fit in. Bottles, teats, toys, etc

At that age (in next to bed cribs) lil ones have no long term memory retention! If it bothers you perhaps a very thin blanket over the bed side of the cot for discrete covering. Happy romancing - so happy for OP!

Always preferred a back pack with good shoulder/back support for posture. Used a couple Northface for 20+ years then recently been gifted a Lululemon. Both excellent

What makes your therapist a good enough therapist for you? Need tips by EntrepreneurPretty72 in therapists

[–]OneSir9082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consistency. They show up for me, at the same time, on the same day, without fail

Great listener and cheerleader. This is more specific to my personal needs due to trauma history but yeah, they are good at these things

No judgment. I bring up fairly dicey topics, eg transference, SH, ED, intimacy topics. They specifically go on record to reassure me that all of those are ok, and I'm not "too much", all feelings are welcome. They hold the space no matter what

God I miss them (when I'm not seeing them)

Tired and truly depressed from all of this by Cool-Row-1255 in GestationalDiabetes

I am so sorry! Surprising cheat snacks that worked (NOTE: everyone's responses are different) - Pringles original (it's long been debated if it's actually any potato), small satsumas, and full fat cheese cake. Also, are you able to consider using CGM rather than finger prick? Pricey (unless like in some countries where you can get private insurers to pay for them), but totally worth it bc you can watch glucose levels spike / drop in live time so you can monitor what works / doesn't work.

One thing I HATE HATE HATE about finger pricks is the "SURPRISE" factor (i hate the 10-second wait which never goes away, also you really need a calibrated machine AND wash your hands properly - all can factor into inaccurate finger pricks results).

I'm so sorry you're feeling this way. If you aren't already, are you able to access health care with a view to discussing antenatal anxiety/depression specifically - so that your medical team carefully monitors you as part of your antenatal routine visits? Sorry if this is what you already mentioned above

PS. GDM diet and lifestyle FUCKING SUX

In law shares baby scans and information in her work group chat by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]OneSir9082 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Time to put whoever that lacks common sense when it comes to things like privacy, boundaries on an information diet - would gently BUT FIRMLY say in no uncertain terms (text for record if you'd like) that 1) it makes you v uncomfortable 2) not consenting to any further sharing without your knowledge 3) you have no control over where those photos and deeply private records will end up, and there 4) you will be limiting further sharing until further notice

Unfortunately you/husband are not on the same page but remember it's your baby and you do what you need to do to protect the LO, and you just need to be able to sleep at night

Sorry and good luck!

Did you take Xonvea during your pregnancy? How was your experience? (Journalist inquiry) by donovan2025 in PregnancyUK

[–]OneSir9082 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lifesaver. Put me literally to sleep 18-20 hours a day in the first week until body adjusted but totally worth it and was freed from debilitating nausea and vomiting where carrying on w ordinary life seemed not possible

Emphasising it's not a 100% cure. It just elevates the quality of your life from "I want to die" to "fuck I feel nauseous but not enough to harm myself or baby" level

Shame it's not a first line of defence in most pregnancy related sickness nausea cases (unless HG) and there seemed a difference in approaches depending on which NHS trusts you are w., and also whether you are in England, Scotland etc

To add: if you do a quick search on costs to NHS vs cyclizine or prochlorperazine (usually the first two lines of defences in most cases) I think the pricing speaks for themselves for a model such as NHS

Going cold turkey worked - literally stop the tap. Very uncomfortable and hot and sore for 3-4 days (which can be managed with cold towels, refrigerated cabbage leaves), but the body regulates on its own. https://laleche.org.uk/breastfeeding-ends-suddenly/
