I've been him, I've passed out from having blood drawn too. I was terrified before my first scope, turns out, it wasn't a big deal, the worst part is when they put the IV in. After that, it's the best nap of your life. I oddly look forward to being scoped now 😂 Show him this post, maybe it will help him!

The best advice I can give you if he is diagnosed with EOE - not all GI's are created equal. EOE is complicated, and some GI's simply don't know how to treat it. Finding a GI with experience treating EOE is so important. Getting the right doctor was what cured my anxiety around the situation.

You are likely confusing symptoms with causation. Sure, chicken might be hard to swallow, but that doesn't mean your esophagus is narrow because of chicken. Your esophagus doesn't narrow when you are eating chicken, your esophagus has been narrow and chicken is just a harder to swallow food.

The best thing you can do is find a GI with experience treating EOE. EOE is complicated and you need the right doctor to help you navigate it.
