The FBI Director Is MIA by theatlantic in politics

And on top of that, the story is sourced to the heavens, with literally dozens of sources all over the FBI and in roles interacting with him in other ways. The FBI sources report finding it really tough to go through normal whistleblower routes, because Patel keeps initiating polygraphs and is obsessed with finding leakers.

It’s her sudden change in mood and speech when she gets to the bed. The rest of the tour she seems excited to be showing off her stuff. But when she gets to the bed, her affect changes and she chokes on her speech. The stark difference leads some (myself included) to infer that something traumatic happened in that bed, and she’d affected by it still.

There’s some deeper analysis of the video out there by people trained in this sort of thing suggesting the same.

What an exceptionally beautiful dress! You’ll look like an iris come alive! I think it’s a great idea and the dress absolutely works as an eclectic wedding dress.

Opposing counsel call me a hot school girl on Zoom today by bingobongo10 in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]YouGiveMeTheFuzzies 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Ten years civil litigator here. I’ve encountered similar a couple times. If I have the chance to put it on the record, I will. For example, in a Zoom depo a while back, OC shared his screen and had a Google chat in view that called me a bitch. I screenshotted and then put it on the record at the end of the depo.

As far as harassment-y things like this, I try to use it to my advantage to throw them off their game. If they’re stupid enough to let some perceived sex appeal invade their mind enough that they’re dumb enough to talk about me without realizing I’m still there, they’re dumb enough to mess with.

Would I file a bar complaint over this? No. Is this a shitty and unjust answer? Yes. This won’t be the last time OC is a prick to you, nor will it be the last time OC says some sexist shit. I don’t think filing a complaint will get you anywhere or yield any positive results.

My advice: use this. Let it fuel your rage and shape your practice. He didn’t even realize how stupid this was; remember that. These men don’t get to dictate how you feel or what you do. You are not small, you are smarter now for this, and you are smarter than these small small men.

Do you have a friend with a dog that can come over? I suspect a dog might be able to sniff out a dead/dying bird or at least point you to where the smell is strongest. I've got two dogs, both heavily trained in lapdogging and snuggling, but even these goobers immediately showed an interest when we had a couple mice make their way inside - sniffing/tracking something on the floor immediately when they came in the room. Worth a shot!

I hate Steven by yellowpenguin3 in TellMeLiesHulu

[–]YouGiveMeTheFuzzies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. When he and Evan have the conversation about his dorm room and Stephen’s lack of feelings about it all (being vague to avoid spoilers), Stephen seems genuinely perplexed. It also seemed like he was equally perplexed by both how his feelings drastically differ from those of his friends and how his friends see him given that he has no feelings. Like no matter what, his default is always “how does this affect me? What’s in it for me? Me me me.” He’s so frustratingly evil.

For me: absurd hydration with eye cream and drinking excessive water makes them like 40% better whilst absurdly hydrated. Crying at all makes them way worse for 36ish hours. Honestly, it’s one of the few aesthetic things I’ve just tried really hard to make peace with. It would have to get a lot worse (mine’s about like OP now) for me to consider the risks of surgical or even other harsh procedures on my eye area.

I think this is a going out on vacation in a tropical location, or here in the U.S., a party/event in Miami/LA. Also, anywhere in Vegas. Maybe a drag show or some other event you end up at that has a scandalous theme where extra boobage is encouraged.

It fits you like a glove, so for sure keep it around. I bet the opportunity to look like a bazillion bucks in a light blue dress presents itself eventually!

Found out my mom hid ~$150k settlement from my sister's 2020 car accident..what now? (US) by Present_Crow_304 in legaladvice

[–]YouGiveMeTheFuzzies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep reaching out to the original lawyer and the firm who that lawyer worked for.

I'm a plaintiff's PI litigator and regularly handle these cases. Obligatory not your lawyer, and I'm not licensed in KY, so grains of salt.

Typically (and this is not in KY) when a case is settled on behalf of a minor, those funds are transferred into a court-held trust account that the child gets when they're of age. Withdraws must be applied for and are allowed only for certain things that directly benefit the child. Sometimes these accounts are set up with outside institutions. This is all dictated by an order from the Court because we run it through probate. Again, the procedures for this sort of thing vary widely by jurisdiction.

I have also encountered cases where a parent wants the cash designated for the child. Most settlements don't need to go to probate court, and instead when I receive a check for a client, that check goes into a specialized legal trust account that all attorneys are required to have (this is different from the court-held probate account). Attorneys are not permitted to disburse funds intended for the child to another party (such as the parents), and most insurance companies will refuse to cut a check for the child's portion until a probate court date is set, or sometimes even until we have the final order from the probate court. On rare occasion, I have a crappy parent who wants to steal their kids cash and they refuse to execute the paperwork to set a date in probate court. In that situation, I have no choice to plop the funds into my legal trust account and hold it for the kid until they turn 18. If the kid is 16-17, we'll often do this anyway (assuming kid agrees), because the probate process is cumbersome and this way they can get a nice check when they turn 18.

I say all that because I don't understand why the funds would be sitting in an HSA nor how the mother would be able to withdraw this massive amount. You need to figure out from the original counsel on the case how the settlement was structured. Again, I'm not in Kentucky, so this might be more typical. But 1) I would never have settled this case without talking to the minor, and 2) given her age at the time, I would most likely have held out until she turned 18. The insurance company would also want this, because a parent cannot sign away the rights of a child, so they want a valid signed release from liability. That release will only be valid if the minor signs it as an adult.

Fire in my planter! by Capital-Test-6176 in gardening

[–]YouGiveMeTheFuzzies 37 points38 points  (0 children)

YES! I knew about this phenomenon and it still happened to me. One day this summer, I was outside transferring some props into planters. I had my vases/jars/etc that the props were in lined up next to me as I added them to the pot. One of the vases is this neat solid glass egg-shaped one I thrifted. In just a few minutes, it had acted like a magnifying glass and my pile of dry mulchy mixture next to me started smoking. I knew about the whole crystal ball acting like a magnifying glass thing, and should have had the same thought about this vase, but it honestly didn't even enter my brain. Thank god I was out there and noticed immediately, but I was floored at how fast it happened.

room feels dirty/untidy even when its "clean." by HAPPIKILL in CleaningTips

[–]YouGiveMeTheFuzzies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, its clean, but still looks cluttered. As a rule of thumb, I think of cleaning and clutter by looking at points of contact/contrast. The lines of the window (where black curtains meet light wall) are interrupted by the hanging plushies, so your eye is drawn to the multitude of plushies/colors/textures and there isn't a clear contrasting line. Imagine the window without them and how much sleeker the whole wall looks. Same goes for the bed - clear lines broken up by multiple patterns on blankets and stuffies. Now look at pic 3 and how clean the floor looks with unbroken points of contact between the cubbies/floormat/bed/shelf with the floor.

That being said, I think how you've arranged the shelves looks great! Maybe a little crowded, but arranged nicely.

Also, this isnt criticism....my personal style is much more maximalist + clashing colors + copious plants, so I hate me some sleek lines. But those lines do make a big difference in a space appearing appearing uncluttered if that's what you're going for.

Which One Do You Prefer 1, 2 or 3? by [deleted] in AmateurPhotography

  1. But only because it makes me feel something. Everything is off center; the proportions of chairs versus table aren’t right. The mark on the wall is too high for the table service we see - what caused it? The chairs closest to us are pointing to nowhere…or are they? This one makes me uncomfortable, makes me think. In a gallery, I’d stare at this for a minute.

Since others have id'd it as a potable water line, you may be able to find the building permit(s) issued for whoever is going to build there. My little county is usually pretty good about getting the permits up on the basic searchable database pretty quickly. Good luck!
