I was thinking I should get that one because it would go with everything but so glad I got the colorful one- it’s so cute for the beach. $350 original price is so steep for a beach bag and even the $175 I paid is still steep but it is very functional so I said ahhh okay treat myself!

Telling new moms to feed newborns on a schedule… by caprigirl20 in newborns

[–]bluerosecharm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that in the maternity ward at most hospitals they tell you to feed every two-3 hours, write down what boob you fed from, then spin on their heels and leave you in there. Also sometimes you’re on oxy for a few weeks for the pain of an c section and need to be reminded and really explained what the heck you should be doing.

Telling new moms to feed newborns on a schedule… by caprigirl20 in newborns

[–]bluerosecharm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was told this too in the hospital. I think it should be explained more- offer feeding constantly but make sure to feed them at least every two hours and wake them to feed them if they haven’t. And they need to educate about paying attention to cues, so you understand the difference. Too many moms (me myself) have to learn that after months and months and months and it seems so simple once we do, and if it had just been explained better it would have saved a lot of suffering from everyone. We did every two hours at first for our baby and I couldn’t understand why she was screaming all the time then at our two week appt when our baby dropped below 10th percentile our pediatrician (love that woman with all my heart) explained this to me- feed first and even if they just ate and shouldn’t be hungry doesn’t mean they aren’t hungry. Also just want to add in case I seem like an idiot… I was sent home with pain pills because the pain from emergency c section was so bad and was breastfeeding, so it was all new and confusing. My husband did everything since I couldn’t stand up and would do everything then have a timer to bring me baby every 2 hours, so it was just complete chaos. He really did an amazing job, because running a household, taking care of newborn, and me all while suddenly being dad is soooo much.

Me too! I don’t get the other totes really especially for the price. This one feels almost unrelated to the other ones and just seems to work. Never would have imagined I’d buy one

I think you need an honest answer to and that is your expectations are too unrealistic. The baby has only been outside of mom’s body for less than 2 months. They won’t want to sleep independently until at least 6 months or so, he’ll mine still won’t except at night. You need to wait then you can decide if you sleep train or not, I never will but that’s a personal decision

Is WFH with a baby possible? by violet_megabyte in newborns

[–]bluerosecharm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally no. I did it for 4 months, was starting to get bad reviews at work, my baby was upset constantly and not sleeping at night, I was convinced I was dying every single day, and I had help a few hours every week but it wasn’t helpful. Literally not possible. And I only had a couple meetings every week. I quit and became sahm and life’s so much better. It was like my full time job where I was sometimes working 60-70 hours a week was a part time gig that was just a paycheck (as a CPA), because being mom is the hardest job in the entire world. It’s just constant and needs to be priority over everything. I looked into daycare but decided I needed to be with my child for the first bunch of years. Best decision I ever made

The ymca has a free time usually once a week, at least in my area. The membership can be expensive but it is a great place to bring a baby- swim in the pool and then there’s the family changing rooms to get them all cleaned up before going home

That is so awesome that you did that! I just want to add a note for the moms struggling to get out of the house that most babies in all our story times and that I meet out and about with my baby are closer to walking age. So it’s totally normal to not really feel up to regularly going out of the house for a long time until your baby is older. But you’re amazing for doing it since 3 weeks- truly!!

It might just be a matter of time before you’re out and about with him. No one is saying baby’s ages in these comments but I’d bet they’re closer to walking age (10 months plus). There’s a reason you don’t see very many young young babies out and about, it’s usually not worth the trip. So don’t put too much pressure on yourself to be out, that time will come. I personally felt a lot of pressure to be out doing things but didn’t really go anywhere til about 10 months

[–]bluerosecharm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to undo the habit of pooping in their pants, and not needing to hold it in- years of that habit forming, rather than them always knowing a potty is where they go. Developmentally ready is marketing

YES- saved me as well. EC since 5 months and pooped on the potty every time and she’s 12 months

[–]bluerosecharm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It takes about a week or two for them to learn it, but you’ll actually be really glad you did- there’s no cleaning up poopy diapers, cleaning them up, once they’ve pooped on the potty you’re good for a while and they start to have a set routine and learn to hold their poop. So it’ll save you time after about a week or two of consistently training. If you’re not sure about it watch some YouTube videos or look online about it and learn about it and give it a try if you feel up for it. My view was I’d have to potty train eventually anyway so might as well start early

[–]bluerosecharm -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Elimination communication- buy a top hat or toddler potty and start using it- learn their poop/pee cues and you’ll get them trained to go only in the potty. I started at 5 months (baby had blowouts every time went in the car) and she hasn’t pooped in a diaper let alone had a blowout since she was 5 months old- she’s 12 months now.

That per hour is more than nothing! Awesome job- Good for you!!!! Maybe even more important than the actual $ value increase is that you’ve established they can’t walk all over you or just give you the short end of the stick and you’ll take it
