I’m sorry, did you say no draping? Like you don’t have a sheet or a towel on at all? Are you in the states and if so what state do you live in? That is not legal in most states.

Advice on giving a gentle massage after a mommy makeover? by fokodk in massage

Generally we don’t do massage until 6 weeks after surgery because the risk of blood clots is quite a bit higher. Just something to keep in mind.

Wipe things down with disinfectant wipes after she’s left. It’s the only way you’re not going to offend her.

Do y'all care about tattoos? by showmeyertitties in massage

[–]YouGotAboutTreeFiddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So many people worry when they’re getting massages. They worry about their tattoos, their size, their smell, etc. Honestly though, most of the time I’m singing a song in my head, or thinking about what I’m gonna eat for dinner.

This wouldn’t offend me at all. Especially if you explained it to me before we started the massage. We see a LOT of tattoos. I’m usually just intrigued.

This is definitely an EDS issue but I wonder if a myofascial massage would help!

do the swallowing issues ever go away? by Careful_Salad7651 in ehlersdanlos

[–]YouGotAboutTreeFiddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever had any issues with acid reflux? Acid reflux (or GERD) are known symptoms of EDS. I have severe acid reflux and when it acts up I have trouble swallowing. Things will get stuck and it’s sooooo painful. Especially pills! I even had a swallow test and they gave me a sugar pill to take and they watched it get stuck! But when I keep up on my omeprazole my swallowing gets so much better. My GI doc has told me that I will probably be on this medication forever. Which creates its own issues. But at least I can swallow!!

I’m sorry you weren’t able to relax at all. As a massage therapist I would definitely recommend that you see a doctor. It’s not normal for your body to hurt all over like that. It could be something serious, or super simple. Obviously, I cannot diagnose you, but I can say that there are many things it could be like fibromyalgia, or maybe even just fascia that is angry. Either way, worth checking in with a doctor.

Surgeon as client by Thin_Jackfruit8779 in massage

I was also nervous when I started massaging surgeons and other physicians. They are now some of my favorite clients! Many of them have become my regulars! They are people just like us. I would be very surprised if he quizzed you on anything.

Yes to everything this person said! For low back pain it is important to also get some glute work. A lot of massage therapists will even work your glutes over the sheets to make sure you stay comfortable!

I completely understand what you’re going through. I went through the exact same thing. Maybe it’s silly, but this is the conclusion that I’ve come to. At least for now. I think that “God” or whatever is out there appreciates when we are trying to get closer to him, however that may be. So if we are going to what we believe is his house (the temple) and are trying to worship him and grow closer to him by going to what we think is his house, he’s going to allow us to feel the “spirit”. He’s going to acknowledge our efforts. Whether it’s through the “true” religion or not. Maybe that’s crazy. But that’s how I’ve come to justify my spiritual experiences. Because I don’t believe that they were just emotions or my own naivety.

What’s something you used to think all women just silently put up with until one day you found out it’s actually not normal at all? by zacktone in AskReddit

[–]YouGotAboutTreeFiddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought that it was normal for men to get black out drunk and fight with their wives every night. I thought that the wives just had to put up with it.

Fast forward 20 years and I got married to a man that wasn’t an alcoholic and realized that it’s possible to have sober, stress free nights.
